Calling all Orthinologists Worldwide......
Yeh! You spell it correctly then.
This is a very rare sight indeed in ornithilogal terms thisin the nest of a soon to arrive from the vast swamps of Eritrea the Selasie Blue Queen Crane this occurs once every 7.5 years. So I’m ready with camera in hand one picture of this amazing pharaonic Queen of the Skies could be worth thousands
…..the ones pictured have just hatched, when fully fledged the queen stands 5ft high and has a wingspan of 24ft ...quite, quite breathtaking......

Surely that is a Great Bustard...and they are extinct
24feet wingspan, darn that could bring down a plane!

Re: Calling all Orthinologists Worldwide......
Where??? Even zooming in and with my glasses on I cannot see it, unless it's that hazy blob on top of the lopped palm trunk??? Pass my binoculars! :look:
I love photographing birds that visit my garden. Two days ago I had a breeding (you can tell by the plumage that she is) Pacific (WhiteNecked) Heron for the first time in the nearly 20 years I have lived here, and managed to get a pic for my dedicated album. I usually only get the grey White-faced Herons or the all-white Egrets (not sure if they are Cattle, Great or Little Egrets as they all look the same).
PS: Good luck, Who2!

Before enlarging the first picture I thought it was a puppy stuck up a tree.

The crane, in vain,
Falls mainly on the plane!
The first picture reminded me of the giant nests you see on minarets, and other spots, in Marrakech ... homes to the storks regarded as holy there.
The second picture takes me back to my youthful years addicted to badly-made cheapo monster horror films!
