Promises Promises
I have read that the new president has promised the following:
"He has pledged to build 26 new tourist resorts, eight new airports and 22 industrial cities - in addition to solving chronic problems like high unemployment, fuel shortages and subsidies that are draining the budget".
Is this true?
Wow, rather him than me!

Re: Promises Promises
As I am sure we all know, Sisi officially became president this morning, so this afternoon, he will have been shown officially, what's in the vaults of the Bank of Egypt, and again, I am sure we all know what he will find, though I do hope he asks the governor of the bank about all those scraps of paper on the floor of said vault.
Sisi must now get parliament set up, and not leave it to the last moment being 17th July, as he will certainly need a government to blame for all the new reforms and huge tax increases that must be implemented.
If you were Egyptian would you put yourself up for M P ?, I think not.

Re: Promises Promises
Or MP as in Member of Parliament, this is where the bigger problem may come.
There are plenty of people going to fill the safe at the Bank Of Egypt and lots of construction worked for Hoover in the 1930's America.
And this is Egypt so:

I think that you already get sufficient canings on here without adding to the arse-nal.

Re: Promises Promises
No different to the UK then, people were promised a vote on Europe, it never transpired, instead we got a vote on something not many are interested in, Scottish Independence, are we really interested, let them go, if they end up in a mess, it will not be Englands fault, they can then go to Europe for help, instead of bleeding the Bank of England.

Re: Promises Promises
We did get a vote on the E.E.C we had a referendum as to whether or not to join and I don't think anyone but the Scots has any say in whether they vote for independance or not. It is quite rightly for them to decide.

Re: Promises Promises
We don't even get a vote on Scottish Independence. That 'privilege' is only for the electorate in Scotland. There are no votes for expats.Chocolate Eclair wrote:No different to the UK then, people were promised a vote on Europe, it never transpired, instead we got a vote on something not many are interested in, Scottish Independence, are we really interested, let them go, if they end up in a mess, it will not be Englands fault, they can then go to Europe for help, instead of bleeding the Bank of England.
