Mubarak’s interior minister says US orchestrated 2011 revolution.
Habib El-Adly, interior minister under Hosni Mubarak, said on Saturday that the United States was behind the 2011 revolution against Mubarak as part of its “new Middle East plan.”
El-Adly is being retried, along with six of his aides, Hosni Mubarak, and Mubarak’s two sons, on charges of killing protesters during the 2011 uprising.
El-Adly, during a speech to a Cairo criminal court where he is being retried, said the US had two parts to its plan. The first part was to approach leaders of the Middle East with a democratic model and financial incentives to adopt that model. If the leaders of those countries refused, according to El-Adly, the US would accuse them of being dictators.
The second part of the US approach was mobilising youth in those countries and teaching them how to demand their rights, demand democracy and how to revolt against existing regimes, El-Adly added.
He added that the US trained youths in Egyptian opposition groups Kefaya and the 6 April Youth Movement, and Muslim Brotherhood youth in Qatar and other Arab countries, to “learn democracy.”
The former interior minister said that on 25 January 2011, the first day of mass protests that would lead to the ouster of Mubarak, police used only water hoses and teargas to ward off protesters.
He added that in Suez, protesters turned the place into “hell”, torching police stations to let “foreign elements” into the country on 27 January. The “foreign elements” reached Cairo, according to El-Adly, on 28 January.

Somehow I just don't think so. Under Mubarak things seemed to be going pretty well for the USA so I doubt they wanted to mess with success!

There maybe more truth in this LLL, if you look into the background of what I have written in the past about U.S. foreign policy, and the way it has changed. Yes there will be food aid, yes they will send drones, yes they will support clapped out despots of countries in the Middle East, but one thing is for sure there will be no more boots on the ground.
Again we look to China, for the ways that should be done in Africa, that the West has failed to do in 150 years. When China sees a country in Africa where they require minerals, gold, etc, they do not give a huge continous back hander to who ever is in power, to keep their people down, by they buying powerful guns from the West at a 'reduced' price, to then kill their own people.
China invests in that nations infrastructure, yes they bring Chinese know how, but employs local labour, and Chinese publicity is all to be seen. Yes el presidente gets the credit, BUT the ordinary people are not fools, and it is they that are the future, not el presidente.
It's a pity few enter into real debate like the Middle East's future,.............though I wonder if any one else got killed today with an E - cigarette.

I'm not sure but I think that the Etisalat telephone system here was funded by China.

It amazes me that whenever there is trouble in the east it's always as a result of a western fuelled plot. They said the same when gadaffi was ousted in Lybia. Almost every Egyptian I met when I was in Luxor just before and during morsi's overthrow was very resentful of him. Did everyone I spoke to get talked into overthrowing him by the Americans. I don't doubt that any things that happen are as a result of an unseen force but regardless of what the us view was on morsi's it was the people of Egypt that overthrew him.

On the subject of networks do all three of the carriers have good coverage? I was quite impressed with the coverage I got from my USB Internet link via Vodafone. Even whilst cruising and being In between Luxor and Aswan.

The people are not fools? When the said same people firmly believe that it was the U.S that introduced swine flue and bird flue into the country to destabilize the economy, then they will believe that the U.S orchestrated the 2011 revolution if some one in big trousers say so. The population of Egypt are more easily lead than sheep.
Life is your's to do with as you wish- do not let other's try to control it for you. Count Dusak- 1345.

A symptom I fear, of generations without real democracy.
It will take time for the people to get used to it.

Of course this is true, and that can be said for most of the Arab world. The Egyptian parliament is the same as the whole of the Arab League, which is one big talking shop, and will remain so, that is why Israel can run rings around the lot of them, while Palestine bleeds to death. As far as I can see the Arab world including the Gulf States will soon start to become a spent force, the price of oil will collapse, and even now there is not much call for dates. That is when most of the Arab world will fall as we know it. I believe that few countries other than Egypt will remain in the same shape or form. We are already seeing this in the two most powerful countries in that region, Iran and Iraq.Dusak wrote: The population of Egypt are more easily lead than sheep.
Away from the Arab North, China is already investing in the manner as I have written here in other parts of Africa.
They have little interest in real business with the Arabs,.........would you ?
