4-year-old sentenced to life in prison for murder in Egypt
An Egyptian court has sentenced a four-year-old boy to life in prison for “committing murder” when he was aged just one.
Ahmed Mansour Karmi was not in court on Tuesday when he was convicted of four counts of murder, eight of attempted murder, one vandalisation of property and another count of threatening soldiers and police officers - all before his second birthday.
Ahmed was one of 115 defendants who were all handed life sentences at the same time at the court in western Cairo for crimes allegedly committed in early 2014.
His defence attorney, Faisal al-Sayd, told the Jerusalem Post the child’s name had been added to the list by mistake but the court did not pass Ahmed’s birth certificate on to the judge to prove he was born in September 2012.
He said: "The child Ahmed Mansour Karni's birth certificate was presented after state security forces added his name to the list of accused, but then the case was transferred to the military court and the child was sentenced in absentia in an ensuing court hearing.
"This proves that the judge did not read the case".
Another lawyer said the case showed “there is no justice in Egypt”.
He said: “The Egyptian scales of justice are not reversible. There is no justice in Egypt. No reason. Logic committed suicide a while ago. Egypt went crazy. Egypt is ruled by a bunch of lunatics."
Egypt has been ruled by a military dictatorship under President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi since Mohammed Morsi's elected government was ousted in 2013.
Approximately 40,000 opposition supporters are currently in jail as the government cracks down on dissent.

Makes you wonder how these stories are leaking out, but there seems to be a lot more reporting being done to what there used to be. Probably an Arabic Media with an axe to grind.
Normally people under 14, are deemed not to have the mentality to commit these atrocities, and the parent become the perpetrator.
Lets hope there was someone there to change his nappy, when sentence was passed.

If you ever doubt what a new born child is capable of, just watch the film ''It's Alive.' An example unique for staying celibate.

There are large numbers of islamists and regime opponents ensconsed in London and elsewhere happily feeding the western media with whatever they can find (or sometimes invent) to disparage the image of the Egyptian government/security forces/judiciary etc.
Whilst an incorrect name (the 2 year old) slipping unnoticed into the process and getting so far is unusual, I have heard of similar cock ups in our own judicial process.
Recent reports of 'disappearances ', abuse of detainees etc. are regularly covered in the Egyptian media, along with official denials that they take place.

It's Alive is a film "D" and films are usually whatever the director thinks at the time.

I fully and totally agree with the comments as written above.
I can not for one moment believe that an Egyptian judge would send a collection of 115 defendants to jail, without first studying each individual case on its merits. Further more, for the British press to insinuate that this judge may be lazy, is truly an insult.
Soon they will be saying the Egypt is a land of Judge Jeffrey's.
I believe that any ex-pat who do not give this post a 'like' is suspect, .

Here's a good one.........
In what was described as a ‘surprise meeting’ by some local media outlets, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met with Interior Minister Magdi Abdel Ghaffar and ordered him to crackdown on police abuse.
According to a statement released by the Presidency, Sisi asked the Minister to propose a series of legislative changes to tackle “irresponsible acts by some members of the police force,” reported Al-Ahram.
The President ordered the Interior Minister to submit any necessary legislative amendments to parliament within 15 days

In a recent televised interview, the Interior Minister, apparently with a straight face, asserted that the units under his control were known for their "integrity & transparency" so he may find it difficult to satisfy his boss's wishes.......but we'll see.

Some people will try anything to prove their innocence.
Personally 'I think he's a guilty as sin, he just has to personally visualise his crimes he's committed towards humanity.
Then the healing will start to take place, of his dastardly sins he's committed towards his fellow human beings.
Anyhow, 'not to worry to much, he has a long interesting life to-wit to ponder his current circumstances and predicament....
Only in America eh?....
Ps: bet some 'bright spark will remind me that this is Egypt, bet the Yanks vote in that nutter Trump!

Someone elsewhere suggested the lunatics have taken over the asylum. Seriously is it any wonder people don't even bother thinking about visiting Egypt when stories like this get out.

I had two friends Gerry Conlan rip and Paddy Joe Hill they did not think much of British Justice.
Both extradited by my very persistent brief Mike Mansfield QC and ever whispering solicitor Gareth Peirce...
Ps: Oh! yes and I, was guilty as charged....but never admitted to..
