Whilst poking around for info on the discovery of the Menkaure triad statues, I came across the following article.

Some interesting history...and excellent photos.

Not doing an "A-Four" on us ....are you? Who's your manic depressive friend?

The art world is replete with fakes and Egyptian artifacts are prime targets. I remember Shaun Greenhalgh knocking up a calcite "Amarna Princess" in his backyard and flogging it to the Bolton Museum for over 400,000 quid!!

His name is Mohammed El Saidy.
But I always thought a film based on Shaun Greenhalgh and his wheel bound parents would have be a great success.
Especially as he fooled the 'so-called experts constantly.....8)

Your welcome Carrie, no problem.
Been out all day, but I have just checked it for you and according to my reference book for the Cairo museum it should be listed as Item No. 6055/39 and should be located in room 32 (ground floor) so that may help you find it again. :up

It is described thus:

Painted group representing the dwarf Seneb, chief of all the royal wardrobe dwarfs, his wife - a Princess and their two children.
Gizeh, 5th Dynasty (2563-2423 BC)

Just looked him up and it definitely is the the one I meant. Last time I went to the museum I spent over 5 hours just on the ground floor, can't understand how I missed him. I love the expression on his wife's face and the way she is holding him. Beautiful.
Don't pretend to be an Egyptologist or have a wide knowledge but somethings appeal no matter where they come from.
