I was going to add that we also came in front of Russia, but of course some would say “Ah well Russia did not have a full team”. Although you could say that they did not have a full team because they were caught cheating and it just shows that on a level playing field we can do very well for such a small country. To be fair we will have lost a few good Olympians before the next games in Tokyo, Jessica Ennis, Mo Farah etc. but there are many others coming through the ranks who will hopefully be as good as the ones we lose. It just goes to show that when a country (with the help of National Lottery money) puts enough resources into certain sports we can still excel in them.

Nice little touch by British Airways, the jumbo jet carrying Team GB back home from Rio had a gold painted nose and the name Victoria changed to read ‘Victor’ ia, nice one BA.

Quite a bit I would imagine, although they did only paint the nose bit gold.
