Re: I Suppose
We have had enough cereal and candy, enjoyed good wine and gourmet beer, brought new quality shoes and clothes, leaving the more delicate numbers behind for elegant evenings later this year. We have had all the international entertainment that we need for a while and hugged our relatives who do not wish to come here.
Now we are getting ready for more temple visits, Nile sailing, dining under the stars, sunripe fruit, pomegranate, lemon and sugarcane juice, hot desert sand, another mild winter with new adventures, friendship and a warmer everyday life. We are open to integrate into our lives even more of the things that matter to us, which our Northern homes do not offer.
I love the Egyptian summer, but see no reason to miss the long Nordic summer days and bright nights. I chose to experience four seasons in Europe, and though I spend most of the year here in Egypt, I want to make sure that I do not run away from anything. I am here for as long as I can or will with deep roots in the city which is my home though I am not there. I did not come here to escape, but to live a fuller life. I do not leave my brain behind, only the overactive part of it which lives in Copenhagen. This is my heartland, and it is so good to be back.
I am not going to let my granddaughter grow up without me and miss out on her childhood only to save money and feel richer and better than others, hoping that she and her parents will be there for me if I ever get enough of dancing to life Egyptian music. This time will never come back and I choose to divide it between the places where I truly feel at home, rather than sit in one place, complaining about what is missing.
I carry Upper Egypt in my heart and Scandinavia in my mind.

Hatusu, you know how sarcastic and so uncharming I can be, just saying it knowing that the place will be empty for years, suiting the good Doctor well, suiting those on low incomes well, and suiting those waiting for God well.

suiting the good Doctor well, suiting those on low incomes well, and suiting those waiting for God well....that covers most people. I would have added "anyone with an eye for beautiful scenery, a fascinating culture and an interest in one of the most ancient civilisations in the world".

Re: I Suppose
I fail to understand that if things are so absolutely wonderful down under, with all the cornflakes and chocky biscuits the heart desires, you would bother about whether there are tourists here, why they come or stay. I am quite sure your informants in Djorf keep you updated with the number of power cuts, water outages, number of tourists, there are.
Personally speaking if I was making a new life elsewhere and found it to my liking the last thing I would be interested in was what was happening in a place and to people which you so clearly dislike.

I know, I felt so sorry for you when you told us that on two pensions, you could no longer maintain a lifestyle with weekends at Jolie Ville, even though, unlike the six months a year people, you did not have the expense of plane tickets and double household. That is tough.Major Thom wrote:Hatusu, you know how sarcastic and so uncharming I can be, just saying it knowing that the place will be empty for years, suiting the good Doctor well, suiting those on low incomes well

Do be careful, Major Thom, of the 'doppelganger effect'. Read about it: it can
be literally fatal.

Re: I Suppose
Some people, well a few people can be happy wherever they are.
It's inside that counts not the exterior trappings that makes for a happy life.
A trick many should have learnt way before now, when Mr De'ath is knocking on one's door..
Ps: I somehow doubt if MT was ever happy even in The Inner Hebrides, some people just never know how lucky they are...

So very very true Who and never likely to be.
Those of us who are happy should feel pity for those unfortunate souls that never, where ever they be never seem to find contentment and peace of mind.

Perhaps doing the rounds of the favoured stores and stocking up on any treats and goodies available ready to celebrate the Islamic New Year with 'his' villagers.El Khemit wrote:he might have been in Australia, but he certainly is not now, me and my wife who live in Luxor have seen him and his wife a few times in the last week alone.hatusu wrote:Why would it be interesting to anyone living in Australia?

Re: I Suppose
Interesting new member with one post to your name El Khemit, considering you do not use the forum or internet sites. So where have you supposedly seen me, in a coffee shop, supermarket, pub, temple, KV or QV, maybe at a Drs or Hospital or even a Dentist? I think you should be more considerate to the Psudinym you use.

Sounds like a smokescreen to me.
Perhaps using yet another pseudonym from storage, kept just in case? Writing style is very familiar.

See, after such a short while we have the perfect example of the doppelganger effect. Now we have one on two sides of the planet.Remus wrote:Do be careful, Major Thom, of the 'doppelganger effect'. Read about it: it can

stop trying to play games with people, it makes you more of a fool when you are caught out, i and many others have seen you, so why play games? do you think we are all stupid?
i have been reading the forum for about 4 years now and was quite happy doing just that till i saw you trying to play games with the people of the forum, it must be cause you are bored with life.

Yes I suppose you have been reading the forum for years without rejoining under a name, but to say you never use the site is an understatement. It seems the Internet is full of my activities but yet only on here can it be found. Strange to say the least.

Re: I Suppose
MT, you do make some meaningless posts
El Khemit has been a member since 2012, probably longer than your current personna of Major Thom has existed, so why would he change his forum name? and as it is only on here that you post your comments about Luxor, then it makes sense that they would only make a reply on this forum where they are a member. There are many many members who only read the forums and never make a comment about anything at all. Perhaps if you were not so well known for trying to fool other members and for making up tall stories then people presently living in Luxor would not feel the need to expose them.
