It seems we are seeing few location shots, whether it be in South Africa or some damned awful valley somewhere, and I am beginning to get tired of the model of old Oriental House.
I'm not sure if other have noticed the love triangle that has developed in episode two, but there are TWO very good reasons why this situation did not occur, one, being that at the time in question Carter was about 47 years old and young Lady Evelyn Herbert would have been about 21 years. The second reason being,......................well, I shall leave it to others to speculate on. . . .

If you're suggesting Carter was a "confirmed bachelor" (ahem!).....I'd have to say "more than likely"
Repressed sexual inclinations might go some way to explaining his, at times, bizarre behaviour before, during and after his great 'discovery'.
What might be more interesting, in later episodes, is how they portray the events surrounding the initial "opening" of the tomb.
Will they show Carter et al breaking into the antechamber...and even the burial chamber... without the knowledge of the authorities, and subsequently hiding the fact?
Dare they mention that Carter et al almost certainly removed some "keepsakes"....again, without consent?
Such details would ruffle a few feathers even today!
But the 'keepsakes' were well known about, the latterly discovered private collection at HighClere as pointed out by the Butler in a concealed cupboard when an inventory was being done after Canarvons death attest to that, as do the strategically placed baskets by the tomb wall and Carters habit of carrying around a wine box are well known.
I don't think the items at Highclere, revealed by the butler, were items linked to Tutankhamun. Rather they were a rag-bag of artifacts acquired by the 5th earl over the several years he was associated with Egypt.
Of rather more concern are the items scattered around various museums which almost certainly came from the tomb and for which no reliable provenance exists. Either Carter et al took them or they were items from ancient robbery of the tomb which , rather late in the day, were circulating on the antiquities market and bought legitimately. Believe what you wish!
That Carter was a little 'cavalier' with regards to the tomb and its contents seems undeniable. The "forgotten" head of nefertum left in a wine box? The perfume box spotted in his house? The items left to his housekeeper in his will? All undeniably from the tomb.
All now back in the Cairo museum with a veil drawn over the affair.
The undisclosed entry by Carter, Carnarvon , Lady Evelyn & Callender to the antechamber and burial chamber is now accepted history. Whether they took anything....well, that's in the realm of speculation.
And a lot more interesting than whether Lady Evelyn had the hots for a man old enough to be her father!
