Run, Hide, Tell.
That is the advice in this video released by the police as the latest advice to holiday makers at home or abroad. I suppose the advice is necessary and may just save lives in any future terrorist attack, but it hardly inspires much confidence in an already wary tourist market.

This has been circulating for some while now, certainly by my own Police authority.

I fall at the first hurdle, well actually before the first hurdle, because I simply cannot run. In fact I've never really been able to run but certainly can't these days. Whether this would make me more of a potential victim I'm not sure.

One thing I have always tried to make myself aware of is my general surroundings, Fire Exits, suspicious packages/unattended luggage, people exhibiting strange behaviour etc. but some of that stems from having been evacuated from school when the local telephone exchange had a bomb scare. I was also on the London Tube when a bomb scare took place. The train wasn't fully in the station when it came to a standstill and the doors kept opening and closing. Naturally, most passengers were doing their best to get off the train and up the escalators and away. I decided I a was in more danger of getting crushed in the scrum so just sat frozen to my seat. I wasn't alone in this action. Eventually we were advised that it was a hoax and we were able to continue our journey.

Advice such as that given is helpful, but only to a point. No set of circumstances are going to be the same so they no matter what advice is given we can only use it as a guideline and hopefully use it or adapt it if faced with the worse case scenario for real.

Like you Hepzi i am unable to run and it has made me wonder what the hell i would do, the situation you found yourself on the tube most of been truly terrifying.l also wonder if i would be able to tell from what direction possible gun shot was coming from, being partially deaf and as a hearing aid wearer can lend itself to a false idea of direction a noise is coming from. I guess if something was to happen i would be well and truly up the swanny.

Maybe hotels should have a couple of panic rooms for their clients, so they can find safety from terrorists. I think though that if you here gunshots panic would break out and when panic breaks out it creates mayhem. We used to hear gunshots a lot but people said they were fireworks, My wife heard 3 gunshots around 3 years ago, when she told me I asked on here if anyone else had heard gunshots and was told they were maybe fireworks from a wedding, the next day we knew for certain they were gunshot and were told the results. A difficult one really I think because different people react in different ways.

And what about the thousands of infirm or semi infirm, zimmer framers, folk with only one leg and wheelchair using pensioners on holidays? Suppose you could have a loud speaker system announcing ''FREE BINGO'' That would get 'em shifting at a quick shuffle.

Luckily I can still run for a bus, but direction wise, get a tad confused now.
