Urgent.. headed for Sudan at Luxor International Airport
It landed moments ago, an emergency plane at Luxor International Airport, after sending a distress call to the airport authorities.
An official of the Luxor International Airport said that an aircraft belonging to Egypt's aviation company, coming from Cairo International Airport and heading to the state of the Sudan, sent a distress call to the airport authorities, demanding an emergency landing.
He explained that the airport authorities had allowed the aircraft to land immediately, in the isolated area, while the governor of Luxor Mohamed Badr, and general tariq alam, the director of security, had been directed to find out why her sudden landing had taken place.

This being Egypt, they probably suddenly realized that they had forgot the passengers.

The early hours of this morning, Thursday, saw an emergency landing at Luxor International Airport.
An official of the #luxor airport said that the watchtower heard a distress call from an aircraft coming from Cairo International Airport, heading to #juba airport southern Sudan, responding to it.
In special statements today, he explained that the distress call from the pilot came after an anonymous letter was found in the " water cycle " inside it, which says, " the plane will explode within minutes ", which has had a panic, and on ", After that, the #pilot requested permission to land, as a precautionary measure to detect a positive message from her number.
He pointed out that the aircraft had been allowed to land in the #isolated area in anticipation of a positive message, and after its stability, the bomb squad immediately intervened to detect the presence of bombs inside it, as well as other technicians from the #maintenance section to examine Complete and make sure there's nothing wrong with it.
The examination confirmed that there were no explosives or defects in it, and it was decided that the passengers would return to resume the #flight back to juba airport.

I wonder if there'll be a more intensive interrogation of the passengers at the Juba end. Leaving a frightening note in the toilet is not funny.
Luxor is a popular destination for diverted flights. I was on a fight to Hurghada a couple of years ago which was diverted to Luxor after debris was discovered on the Hurghada runway.
Egyptair has also had its fair share of "incidents"....including fatal crashes and hijackings.

A pretty stupid way of going about issuing a bomb warning though, saying it would go off in minutes by a hand written note. If it had been true, then it would of gone off ''within minutes'' with non being the wiser as the note would of been incinerated. If it had been done by a disgruntled Egyptian, he would of signed it.
