Football.

Post by newcastle »

"Yesterday, May 26th 2018, a day which will live in infamy, Egypt was suddenly and deliberately attacked by forces of the Empire of Spain...."

So came the grim words of President Abdel Fattah Saeed Hussein Khalil el-Sisi as he told the weeping nation of last night's grim events in Kiev.

The internet almost crashed in Egypt as outraged football fans took to social media to vilify the Real player Ramos who had the temerity to tackle the Golden Boy/King Mo Salah and, with malice aforethought (allegedly) dislocate his shoulder.

Death threats mingled with curses and barely concealed references to Ramos' parentage. I doubt he'll be visiting Egypt anytime soon

OH....the result?....as is usually the case, the better TEAM won. Would it have been any different had Salah stayed on? .....who knows. Who cares.

This match wasn't about Liverpool or Real Madrid. It was to be the final apotheosis of Salah....before being declared the greatest footballer that's ever existed...or will ever exist.

The word that kept popping into my head was "hubris".

Some are saying it was a tactical move to bring The Egyptian King to his knees. If it was it obviously worked. Some are saying on Egyptian media it was the 'Hand of God' which brought him down. Either way it looked like a genuine tackle from the clips shown this morning on the BBC.

Egypt's chances in the world cup? Unless he's bandaged up like a mummy then I'd be surprised if he played, which will be a poor result for the country. It's a pity Egypt put all their eggs in one basket so to speak.

Paint Drying comes to mind, I never watch football, but did manage to stay awake and watch a 3rd division play off a couple of weeks ago, personally I thought that game was far better than any Premier game, European game etc. So well done the lower leagues. If I remember right one of the teams involved was Exeter.

These are examples of comments posted about Mo on Facebook via a local Egyptian paper.
Sergio Ramos #the_animal intended to injured Mo.Salah, I guess they planned it ahead of the game, they're afraid to Loose
He is racist and he did his mission. But Allah is with Muhammed Salah. Enshallah,he will recover soon.
Deliberately he do it.romos devil

Try telling that to a Liverpool supporter.......or ANY Egyptian

To the Egyptians, Ramos set out to cripple their hero and should be publicly disemboweled.

Good grief....he was caught on camera smiling afterwards! I suspect many Real fans were ecstatic and leaping for joy when their greatest danger left the pitch.

Football fans are nothing if not "result merchants". If Salah had got up and dusted himself off we'd have heard no more about it. But then the Egyptian public, with their unerring ability to read minds, know for certain that Ramos set out to put Salah into the changing rooms.

It's almost unheard of for a football match to be completed without a foul. Most go unremarked, Occasionally - very rarely - they end in death. In this case, the referee ( and some pundits) didn't even consider a foul was committed. Maybe a "professional foul"? (I love that oxymoron!). Who knows. I lay no claim to being able to read people's minds or analyse, with certainty, video replays.

Every day in Egypt several speeding or careless drivers mutilate and kill people. It's a pity that the Egyptian desire for revenge and punishment is focused on a freekin' game of football :vs

Maybe it's a Ramadan thing. They all get a bit tetchy at this time of year.

No Crewmeal, a Red Imps, (Lincoln City) supporter. have been since around 5 years old. We cannot help people who want Mo Salah Tee Shirts, and if we could after reading the posts they would not be able to afford my prices....   Unless of course they would want to swap a new villa with a small amount of money to me for one....  Sounds familiar????

:))) :))) :)))

The hysteria amongst Salah devotees is getting absurd!

There's even some nutcase lawyer trying to sue Ramos for $1 billion

https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/footba ... 49566.html

There are countless comments on the internet from people who feel the tackle was fair and the consequences an unfortunate accident.

What we're seeing is a "trial by opinion"

Salah himself hasn't commented (sensible guy)

No doubt the football authorities have closely examined the video to ascertain whether the referee/linesman missed anything. (silence there too).

Time to move on.....

Personally I find how people can be so obsessed by football, although I follow my home team I am never too bothered and would never put myself out to watch a game. When I was dragged up it was always Rugby, and so that was my forte and following. I must say that like some Liverpool fans last week I would never even consider paying 1000 squid to travel and see a game. The last game I saw live was Anderlect and Brugge I was visiting relatives across the border in Holland and we all set of to watch the game, if I remember in 1979 the admission was the equivalent of 3.00 Squid. I think now it must cost around 10 to 15 squid to watch a top game, maybe someone knows what the actual cost may be?

I hear that Allah is sending 50 wild dogs to rip the b***s off Ramos. Now that would be a match in itself!

If Allah transfers the pack of wild dogs troubling my neighbouhood he'll have my eternal gratitude.

I might even reconsider my atheism.

Bad news for Ramos of course, but my safety and a good night's sleep are more important.
