Travel Insurance
At present I'm using my bank's free insurance scheme but as I approach 70 next September I feel charges will cut in. Can anyone recommend a company that's not going to rip you off. Yes I'm on blood pressure pills and take a daily pill for an enlarged prostrate.

Re: Travel Insurance
I can't recommend one, but I do advise you to check out a number if companies as the premiums vs benefits can differ greatly.
I always used my bank insurance, but then had a health issue. When I discussed it with them, the extra premium was silly money. I spent a lot of time on line and on the phone cheching out various companies and found an annual worldwide insurance that fully covered me. The cost difference between that and the excess the bank wanted was negligable but the benefits were as good, if not better.
Shop around. It takes time, but is worth it in the end.

Re: Travel Insurance
Credit card insurance is generally not recommended. They tend to fall short in extreme situations, just when you need them.

Re: Travel Insurance
I've read good and bad about credit card insurance. Equally, I've read good and bad about other insurance companies. Ultimately, they are all only as good or bad as their ability to meet your needs at the time.

it is what you do with what happens to you.

Re: Travel Insurance
I use an American Company that is in league with American Express, they are pretty good really and we claimed once for luggage loss and the payout came withing 2 weeks. So Its a difficult one. We used to use the Royal Bank of Scotland free travel insurance, or which some think is free but you pay for it via your account charges. And yes you are correct Crewmeal after a certain age, of which I do not know charges will apply. In any case if you have problems with anythings that you take regular medication for you are supposed to declare it or you may find a void insurance policy,

Re: Travel Insurance
I am over 72 and the main problem is the number of days out of the country. I have an annual multi-trip policy which allowas me to be out of the country up to 62 days each visit - Worldwideinsure.com
It seems that if I want to be out of the Country for more that 62 days then I have to have a Single-trip policy which proves very expensive

When traveling I use Wing and a Prayer. Costs nothing and never had to make a claim.
