A gastronomes delight...

Post by Who2 »

Here's a little event that should be interesting...

It's at Bab el samawi just past the Ramesseum, a rather French influenced house well worth a look.
Sa Re will be offering a selection of new delicacies to try, I noticed it said 'bring your own wine, I'll bring Red
hopefully somebody will bring some White to accompany the foie gras.... 8)
Ps: It's great that somebody here is inventive.....
Pss: Don't forget the glasses...

Well last-nights tasting was fun.
Besides Sa Re (the duck people) https://www.facebook.com/SaReEgypt/
Bertie (great cellist) has started making preserves & cheeses. Called Masbut Delicatessen.
She will be selling her stuff at the same place as Sa RE, next to the veggie shop
Plus there was also a very good potter called Ramassem Pottery Workshop.

Bought loads of delicacies & had great fun with eclectic people.
What entregues me is,..... "I bought Port marinaded olive paste, mmmm! and noticed on my jar of Quails in Port! sauce.
Port Now, where on earth does one get Port in Luxor ?
I'll have to do some ringing around or emailing unless someone on here has an idea!.... 8)
Ps: I love Port, I used to buy Berry Bros & Rudd's own by the case load..

Not found any source of Port here in Egypt. However, it would not take much Port to add flavour so maybe a couple of bottles brought in a case was enough to create the delicacies mentioned.
I left a good bottle of Port at our place in France. Remind me next year and I will see if I can fit a bottle in.

Well after a bit of very clever research the truth is revealed. Port is available in Luxor ????
But it's all a big secret, until I test the validity of it's claimant.
It 'blew me away whence I learnt from where it aspired, It really makes one think, 'Well it did me!
So, off I head 'SE as the crow flies to investigate said: Port producers TBC.. 8)
Ps: It could all be just another 'urban myth or as Donald states 'it's all fake news....

Don't worry if there is any port in Luxor the good Doctor will find it then pressure will be on for him to reveal his source. Now that I would be more than glad to have a few slurps of.

I'm getting increasingly concerned that I've had, and am having, a seriously bad influence on you Carrie :o :o :o When we first met you almost never drank alcohol, but gradually you've developed a taste for it, culminating in forays to Datca harbour to watch the world go by while drinking beer!!!! Champagne on my terrace, gin & tonic on Trisha's balcony, and now a secret yearning for port! Where will it end?? I'm shocked

In Luxor I suspect it will be any Port in a sand storm. I await a progress report from our intrepid re"port"er.
