Just catching up with some messages received today and one from Cox & Kings UK informs me:
Tonight on Channel 4 at 8pm, watch the latest documentary on Egypt's Great Pyramid. It uncovers ground-breaking archaeological research that transforms our understanding of the ancient world's most ambitious engineering project - the Great Pyramid of Giza.
Be warned - the promo photo shows a '[man] in a hat'.

SUMMARY
Documentary exploring the latest evidence concerning the construction of the Great Pyramid of Giza, and looking into the lives of those involved in building the vast structure. Among recent discoveries connected to the pyramid are the log book of a labour team leader ( Jeremy Corbyn ?? ), that provides an insight into the planning and logistics of the build and how the labourers were housed, fed, and organised.
I believe it’s being repeated on Monday 12th Aug at 10 p.m.
I’m afraid the contribution of you-know-who is inevitable.
After all, he built the pyramids, knows everything there is to know about them and is Egypt’s and the world’s most famous Egyptologist.

The preceding prog at 7pm looks more interesting:
“Secrets of the Valley of the Kings”.
It’s the first of a new 4 part series as far as I can see and spares us the usual repetitions.
“In this well-made documentary – employing drone photography most satisfactorily, and with no recourse to dramatic re-enactment – we follow various international teams excavating around Luxor and Aswan or working on Tutankhamun’s treasures. Everyone clearly thinks they’ve got the best job in the world – even the discovery of a dusty box in the back of a storage room in Luxor merits major excitement. There are hugs and high-fives aplenty.”
ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME
Documentary following archaeologists working to unlock the ancient secrets of Egypt's Valley of the Kings, beginning with the treasures of Tutankhamun's tomb. New technology discovers why the boy king's final resting place went undisturbed for so long, while elsewhere in the valley, a dig unearths a previously undiscovered 4000-year-old tomb.”
Again..repeated on Monday...but the middle of the night!

Oddly enough, and you have to take into consideration how few of these such programmes I really do watch, I think I have seen this before. I remember the boat being dug out and the delicate condition of the coffin and mummy.

Is it a repeat?
If so, I haven’t seen it....so I’ll enjoy it. I think it was made March 2019.

Just tuned in and it would appear to not be 'that man in a hat'.

The man in the hat is Mark Lehner....who’s worked at Giza for 30 years. He’s always pictured wearing a hat.
I’m not sure whether Hawass copied his headdress...or vice verse.
I know who I’d rather watch and listen to on any egyptological programme!

He stills gets his mention though "Along with Dr Hawass, Lehner excavated a site believed to have housed and fed the workers from khufu's pyramid" no change there then. The most interesting thing to me was the mention of a 'Jumbo Jet' sized cavity seen on scans that could be another treasure/burial chamber, but as it sits directly above the Grand Gallery it could in Lehners opinion just be another relieving chamber similar to that above the King's Chamber, probably the best explanation IMO.
