Isolation Cooking...

Post by Who2 »

So, time to concentrate on imagination & diversification in one's kitchen. 3-4-5-6 months ?
I love Jamie's 30 minute meals, I turn them into a 6 hour meal.
All whilst cleaning and trying to disinfect Brutus, if one can catch him.
He still getting used to us being home all the time..

Love Jamie's 'Keep Cool and Carry on Cooking episodes, he got that out dead quick.
It helps having your own production company and TV studio at home...
Gordon's doing a similar thing with all his family at home, clever..

I don't have telly in Egypt so I'm overdosing on cooking programmes, whilst isolating.
Being honest, I reckon it could easily be 6 months before I return..
'Mind you! I have 12 months of salamis, chorizo, pepperoni, kabanossi, marmite ect ect..
all my egyptian supplies to get through yet... 8)

Ps: Simona tried cooking pretzels last night for breakfast.
'hard as nails..

Nice one G!
We have been gardening (digging for victory!) and home baking cheese and also fruit scones. Focaccia next on the baking list but run out of flour so Fran is going shopping for essentials on Wednesday morning. Going early means very few about in the supermarket.
Bought a dehydrator and have been experimenting with smoky paprika courgette and cucumber crisps. Made dried tomato's, dried celery and carrots flakes. Really powerful flavours and make healthy nibbles with your Aperos. Plenty of booze in stock as French consider it an essential. Onwards and really hoping our friends still in Egypt are staying safe and coping generally.

aperos ?
L'apéro is a pre-dinner drink with finger food (similar to a cocktail party). You normally have it between 6PM and 9PM and it can be a full meal. If it's a full meal, it's called “Un apéro dînatoire”...'now I know!...... 8)

NB: New News.....13,000 expats repatriated to the UK, from Egypt, 'Really ? where were they all hiding then ?
Ps: Amazon delivered a parcel today A hand steam cleaner, really good fun and useful to...

Took a long and slow walk through the 'manor this morning, eerie and dead quite.
This place, it's history climbs all over you and underfoot ? tunnels, prisons, and bones stacked upon bones.
Clerkenwell was established when The City threw out all the blaggards, prostitutes and footpads.
Mind you the Romans had a vineyard here once.

The old Finsbury Town Hall: august 1940

There are 6 hotels planned for this area we already have about 6 or 7.
Here's one for MT, the old Snow Hill Police Station, One used to have to bang on the glass to
obtain a policeman's' attention, set to become a Premier Inn.
15656
Last night watched Ashes to Ashes when a white faced clown suddenly appeared,
Jo Grimaldi 'the very 1st white face clown lived above Panzo Pizzas in the market.
15658
Walked past Spa Fields park (Bone City) a cemetery for various plagues also a 'ducking pond
until 6 children all drowned in one go.
For Egyptophiles:

He lived and first made his name round the corner at one of our many Wells. Sadlers...

So, it's a lovely warm spring London morning.
But! Stay indoors, be safe but, if out when exercising and a 'copper stops you......
'Your a scientific research consultant at Bart's or like me on my way to Waitrose's... 8)

Ps: In 1944 of the borough's 9,899 houses & flats no less than 9,015 were damaged during the War.
Over 1000 totally destroyed but we still maintain our heritage and will endeavour to do so....

You’re lucky to have somewhere interesting to meander about.

Try Poplar. :zz

I live in this area associated with former local Labour councillor Edgar Lansbury....whose only claim to fame, as far as I can ascertain, is that he fathered a famous actress. Dame Angela.

I have never spent any time in London just passed through on my way to somewhere else but I must admit that Who's posts make me very sorry that I haven't taken the time to explore. Maybe in the future.

I don’t think Edgar Lansbury can have fathered both Alfred Hitchcock and Charlie Magri......

Wednesday: Cheats Pizza by Jamie....
https://www.jamieoliver.com/videos/jami ... by-eat-it/

With all this stay at home, it's time Britain learnt to start cooking.
I'm trying hard with Simona but, she seems only good with some Romanian soups.

These days I am cutting all the ingredients down except for curry sauces that just roll on and on.
What's the point in cooking for 4 when only for two ?

I am trying to instill in her to use what we have, rather than running to the Co-Op.
Mind you I'm sending her out later for wine & fags... 8)

Ps: No doubt she will take a photo of said pizza she posts it to all her friends.
Pic to follow I feel sure.......

Ok! told yah, she has this weird sense of humour she's now berating the chefs on Master Chef.
My pizza base was sh*t but hey 3 months they should be great.
She shares my food amongst her friends.
I always hated pastry and anything to do with pastry.
