Even if the current “essential only” travel warning is lifted, Heaven knows in what state of readiness the Luxor hotels will be be by early August. Where are you staying?

Exactly!! I'm booked on a cruise for starters but my agent in Luxor says there probably won't be any sailings, then 10 days in Aswan followed by 16 days at the Ibertol.

What I'm concerned about is the cost of the flight which is around £800, although booked shows no sign of operating so far, but early days. Also will fares to Cairo and Luxor be adjusted to reflect the lack of tourism?

I could change all that and have a month in Luxor at a hotel or a flat on the West Bank, but will the curfew be lifted? I don't particularly want to be held prisoner in an empty hotel at night.

My gut feeling is I won't be travelling this year. More chance of a week in Skeggy!

Going by history......fat chance!

The Egyptian solution to lack of business is to increase prices

As far as foreign travel companies/airlines are concerned, their solution to lack of interest in Egypt, or problems within the country, is to cut and run.
