An update.
Hi all, just a quick update regarding my new location. I've settled in now in a lovely countryside location called Buriram. Already met some decent expats living here, although I very rarely go out at night, just enjoying the country air and working on " my property" which comes complete with a thai lady
who I've known for 3 years
. I do not not miss Luxor, nor anyone that lives there, that is now a past life better forgotten. The prices here are roughly what they used to be in egypt 5 years ago, so the cost of living is ok for me and a pack of cigarettes is £1.70, so that's ok. Beer is a very good selection of imported and home produced, oval beers cost around £1.20 a pint bottle, imported around £4.50 a pint. Of course it all depends on the exchange rates that go up and down faster than a bar girls knickers. At the moment its 46 thai baht to the £.

Thanks for the update on your new life, and good to hear you are as DIY active as you were when at home in Karnack village. Talking of DIY, according to family members out there, they say you should make sure your roof is sound as the rain season is about to begin, and the down pours become greater towards the end of it. All the best.
P.S. - £1-70 cigarettes, you lucky chap, B&H at least £13 here, many outlets you pay much more.

Re: An update.
Our rainy season is well on it's way, they usually start with a mini typhoon then it sheets it down. Most houses in thailand have metal sheet roofs, so the sound is horrendous at night, but the lightning is something to behold. I enjoy sitting outside under the canopy during a good old downpour, something I actually missed living in Luxor. I work around 5 hours every morning as it still gets very hot after . PM. With very high humidity levels.A-Four wrote: Wed Jul 03, 2024 8:10 am Thanks for the update on your new life, and good to hear you are as DIY active as you were when at home in Karnack village.
