Delving deep into the recesses of my memory...
It depends whether you are a Shia or Sunni muslim as to what the day represents. For one group it's a celebratory day and for the other it's more a day of mourning. No doubt feasting involved regardless!
The celebratory ones (I can't remember which is which) have taken Biblical Old Testament texts (much of Islam is based on the old testament) and the Ashura celebrates, among other things, Noah and the Ark, and also Moses parting the Red Sea.

I bet there was more than one Ark. And probably more than one Noah, if the whole story be told. 😎

One of my Grandsons is named Noah.
He spends a lot of time with me and stays over whenever he can.
Clever kid. And likes to travel around the world even though he's still only 14, he's done quite well so far 👍

Not sure about his boat building skills. 🤔

"Talk about a palaver....well it is egypt after all...
The reason for using the jorfe/geoff ferry was it terminates near the Sheraton, never happened.

Although the DHL office is at the dead end of Luxor Ahmed DHL, lives in Gurna Gerriza, always useful...
Anyhow been trying to get my Visa CC as it has run out. 'la whaala! No money no honey

Everything down here is shut, opposite is the 2 Johns old place, weirdos..
Next door is Magic Balloon, although I see they have changed their name again, 'to protect the innocent Ha!'

So DHL a nice office but an hour later and 4000le lighter and they say I will have to pay customs and it will
take 10 days..ffs. bread & water diet, takes me back..

Any how old Abu Sitta Taxi No 3 wouldn't charge me, bless although, I'll sort him when the card comes in..
Ahmed & Abu Sitta out side DHL..... 8)

Ps: 4000le for a letter + customs tax No wonder DHL own 250 planes..

Hepzibah got me thinking as I'm rereading Robert Lomas' Templars.

What proof is there that Muhammad ascended to heaven from Jerusalem, I mean what was
he doing in Jerusalem in the first place ?

Oh! and why chose there ? It's a quandary... 8)

This is or was Said:
16366

His pitch ? outside the OWP..
Held in high regard by all the other shoe shine boys.
His box embossed in chrome that the gang aspired to..

Years ago a similar thing had happened to my CC... the machine ate it.
"What's up ? he asked, with my woeful tale told he thrusts me 100le.

I knew then, that here in Egypt, I had friends in deed, when in need... 8)

Ps: Later I got Su'ad, سعاد the scarf seller to taxi him to the hospital and bring back the eye tests.
Then we had great fun Abu Sitta, Said, Su'ad your host in choosing his glasses pebble thick and blue..

The lady won that day..

Was he in Jerusalam ? Or was it an assumption?

I may stand corre ted, but was it not said he was at the farthest temple and so it was assumed it was Jerusalem. ?

I remember Shoe Shine Said with great affection. He was, what I would term, a 'real' Egyptian, and would have been rightly horrified at the antics of some of his compatriots today.
