Well Barry has just edited the last weeks video together, hopefully posting some stills will come next. He is off for another couple of weeks at least yet.

Last night there was a lovely sequence of Kinnie checking the food out & a cub coming up to the table as well, putting its nose forward to Kinnies, put 1 foot on the table & taking a piece of food from under Kinnies nose  Kinnnie miaowed & slowly left. He came in to us purring like mad, really happy to have been so close to one of them. :D

The night before Reynard was sitting down eating & looking so contented, he sits in exactly the same pose as Kinkie (his father) & is every bit as relaxed.

Fenec still can't bring herself to come down alone, but is fine when the others are around, they tend to come down in a group of 3 or 4, with her.

The hedgehogs still come down for their food at the same time as the foxes & they always have a good long drink too. :)

Hope you see yours again Sue.

[face=Comic Sans MS]We used to have foxes here, but with the redevlopment in my area they seemed to dissapear. Recently I've been thinking they are back, apart from the fact that the rabbit population never seems to get out of hand and there are quite a few very large rabbit holes in our garden alone.

On my way to bed in the wee small hours of Sat. morning I saw my first fox in years. Judging by his (?) movements once I had accidntly disturbed him I think he was alone but possibly looking for a re-location site. Time will tell.

Now the area is more settled again, new residents having done most of the work on their gardens and they are becoming established, maybe the hedgehogs will return too. I think the days of seeing deer here are over though. :( [/face]

It could be a young male looking for a territory, but it does seem a bit early as ours are still very much at home still. Having said that I haven't seen Big for a while. :urm: when there are so many milling around it's difficult to always tell who's who. :)
I hope you do have some new residents soon :)

Lady is back but very nervous, she came and sniffed around at the Lamb we had put out on Sunday night but ran away into the bushes before eating anything, she must have come back later though as it was gone again in the morning. So now the nights are drawing in again I reckon she will be a regular again soon, hopefully at a time when we are still up to see her.

I wonder if it may have been when we dog sat Sandy my son's springer spaniel for a week, it was light nights, so Sandy was out and about till bedtime as we had all the doors and windows open because of the heat at the time. There were a couple of times when she barked a bit at something but we did not know what it was she was barking at.
Now Sandy only comes round once a week, mid week for our family night, so maybe now things are more normal and it is getting dark earlier she will start to regain her courage again. Fingers crossed :D

That could well be it. :)
When that strange cat attacked Missy, she wouldn't come down for 48 hours, & only then with Roley as body guard. As Lady comes down on her own it would be much harder for her, especially as it was for a week. Now that he's gone she'll get back to normal, I'm sure. :)

I've just watched Fran and Barry's brilliant DVD of the foxes, passed to me by Quinonostante before she went to Luxor - if anyone would like to see it, please PM me your address and I'll send it on.

Really spooky, although there was no sound, Gizmo and Cleopatra sat side by side in front of the television watching it. Cleo had never even noticed the TV before - she doesn't normally sit still for long enough to focus.
You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave ............

Glad you enjoyed the DVD :) The stills will be a while to post, the DVD recorder is going back tomorrow, it won't write to DVD so we can't get the images off. Hope we saved the latest recordings by moving to Video, we got a whole load of close ups :)

Hi Wills - Gizmo has become her mentor, even down to bottom washing - she follows him everywhere until he gets fed up and goes and hides for some peace and quiet. Phantom now just sticks her nose in the air and pretends she's not there, but no more hissing.

Sorry but we haven't had much contact recently.
Recent frustrating "chat" with Missie along the line
Missie "Look isn't she clever! :?: "
F "I can't see, show me"
M "Look at Beauty, :D Look :D Look "
F "Show me, what is she doing? :x "
M "Hunting, she's getting much better, look she's really stalking well, Oooh she missed it :( "
F "I never did see her :x "
M "Sorry, :( "
F " How's Mum?"
M "She's just Mum, she is busy with the little one(s)"
F "Where's Tufty"
M "Oh he's gone away for now, I'm with Beauty & she's learning to hunt and forage :) "
Went on to say she thinks she and Beauty will set up home with Tufty, & Beauty will help Missie rear her cubs. Fenec will stay with Mum & help her. Fenec is really pretty & dainty but very reserved, rarely comes down, and when she does it is with Mum & Fenec sits on the side of the pond and watches Mum feeding.
The difference in characters, particularly of the females is amazing, Beauty is very like Missie, quite bouncy and extrovert whilst Mum and Fenec are both much more serious & it was Fenec that Mum was teaching when she was showing her Barry when he was ill. Reynard was more like Missie and Big was much more docile, although it is Reynard who has the characteristic "head up eating pose" of Kinkie & always sits down. The last time we saw Big he was slightly larger than Mum & a really handsome chap. They have both gone off now & we miss them :( but that is the natural pattern, they need t find their own territory & partners :)
The DVD recorder was away for repair and they were coming late so we didn't see them for a couple of weeks but last time we saw them Beauty was limping. She came down OK, ate, went back up the bank & came down with a limp, 2 or 3 days later she is still limping. :( but it doesn't seem to bother her and it is slowly getting better.
I did ask Mum but she didn't know anything about it, we didn't know who it was at first but she did say if it was a problem they would have gone back home. Now we see Missie and Beauty together and so we aren't worried as she isn't alone.
The boys have gone off but Blackie still comes back & hangs around Mum part of the time.
HH's are all well, and have produced a lot of young, they all seem quite large, some are almost as big as the adults & even the smallest look as though they are going to be viable. They come down with the foxes and all just step round each other :)

We were joined briefly by Missie while walking back along the West bank of the Nile one evening last week. She immediately recognised the view across to Luxor Temple but asked "where are the bullfrogs?" Bullfrogs we asked? Then she sent Phran the sound of the bullfrogs we had heard in May at the same spot!. She was right, there were no bullfrogs to be seen or heard although there were many small frogs as usual.

When we flew in the balloon with Mohammed Ezz he saw and pointed out a Fenic fox running along a track. I tried to photograph it but as it was just before dawn the light was poor and all I got was a blurry fox shape because of its movement and the slow shutter speed. However, we did see it clearly with our eyes :)
