If you haven't played quilt monsters with a cat you haven't lived. Mind you when he gets bored with your feet and moves up the bed in search of something else it sure makes your eyes water :oo :cc
You must be psychic Dabby, Missie has just arrived, looking well & lovely as ever. Mum came down half an hour or so ago.
Tufty came down last night, eating for England! Don't think he can get used to finding food all laid out waiting for him. Hope it doesn't make him lazy, but he's obviously been hunting as well other he wouldn't have looked so fit when he first arrived. He came back after the Ladies had been down, they came down together, & Missie shoved Mum aside to get at one of the treats under the "table" Tufty gave a real long sniff round where Missie had been on the side of the pond! Think they'd make a lovely couple. Match making service now as well as a feeding station & consultancy on cub rearing. Going to bed to watch them. Niiiiiiight
Last night, a little later after Missie had visited, Kinnie (the quilt monster killer) was quietly walking back in after doing what cats do in the garden at night. As he passed the feeding station Tufty came bouncing down the bank to get some food. Kinnie was somewhat taken aback by this bold approach as can be seen in the picture. He soon regained his composure and carried on indoors. Tufty seemed completely unconcerned as to the close proximity of a large and sharp cat (Mum's expression). Whether he was used to cats or just naive we don't know but it was certainly risky with a cat he did not know. Maybe this indicates strength of character, in which case Missie would be well matched with him.
Great picture, we have not seen our foxes about for a while. I miss seeing them about but sure they will turn up eventually. It is brilliant for you to capture such wonderful pictures.
I have three cats and I have heard that a cat can see a fox of without any trouble, I saw one have a go once on a BBC Web cam night shoot programme, sure they are not all as brave as that though. Mine go to bed in the Integral garage at nights now.

Mum says cats are very sharp, she certainly wouldn't want to tangle with one, although we did watch her drive one off the foxes food just by mind power. That particular cat is particularly nasty, even stood up to BB when he chased it off.
There is very little to be gained by fighting and a lot to lose for either cats or foxes. I think foxes jaws are stronger but cats are sharper clawed & possibly more agile, although foxes can jump well. Our animals all get on well. Except the mice & rabbits, what's left of them after the cat & foxes have had their fill
Kinnie cat actually bought back and left part of a rabbit by the table for Mum when she was feeding the cubs !
I hate it when my cats eat a mouse they always leave a horrid little bit that must be the spleen or something, the bit that processes the rubbish in the animal I suppose, it's yuk finding those little squiggly bits on the patio.
Yeah, it can be off-putting....the little (or large) bundle of fluff been on your knee all night, goes out and chomps on some poor little mouse or shrew.....but, it's their nature, isn't it? I like 'em (but I like all animals), I don't like it when they dough in your doughnuts!!!!
