I read posts to the effect of "my prayers go out to the victims". I do wonder why there is a need to publicize this information, it seems to be using the event to extract attention onto oneself, in a manner not much dissimilar to the behavior shown in the article. However the perception of the two behaviors are wildly different, the former is viewed as noble whereas the latter is condemned.
Both are an exercise in narcissism and hubris. However, the "prayer" zealots are worse as they hold public office and are in a position of power.
