Well Dr. Nicholas Reeves believed that the burial chamber of the long lost queen Nefertiti lies behind the walls of the tomb of Tutankhamun.Aromagician wrote:What Nefertiti fiasco ? She was the one she wrote the book about Nefertiti? I have not been paying attention to Egyptian things lately and need an update !

Re: Immortal Egypt
I must agree Dr, this set of programs are a huge improvement compared to her previous output. I also recognised someone in one of the episodes, that is, until it was pointed out that the person was in fact his son, and not the old mate I thought,...........it's dreadful when one starts to become an old b******.
The only thing that really surprised me, was when she entered the tomb Of A3 and declared that this was the very first time, and had waited many years to do so. To say that her previous work had almost sent her down the same path as John Romer with regards working in Egypt, I am very surprised they allowed her to film inside said tomb, new friends in high places, I suppose. It must be almost 30 years now since the Japanese first started serious work at that site in the Monkey. One day, I might post a couple of pics on here that may suprise a certain reader of this forum.
Sad to hear, an old mate, Dr Donald Ryan seems to have buried his trowel on the WB for the very last time. Some may remember in his younger day produced a T.V. program about his climb into Hatshepsut's cliff tomb in another valley.

Re: Immortal Egypt
Not easy to answer Ruby Slippers, many put it down to his book The Rape of Tutankhamoun, and the follow up T.V. program of the same title, but really there was more to it than that.Ruby Slippers wrote:A Four, what happened to John Romer? Did he upset someone?
John Romer must be over 70 years old now, however he was one of the first in the modern era to actually do a real constructive dig since Carter's days in the Valley, few rules, and certainly a lot of freedom to walk where ever you wished. You can tell this by his great knowledge of ancient graffiti, throughout the WB, that is second only to Carter's collected knowledge. Such graffiti knowledge is vital into studying new finds. Romer kept such finds to himself, told no one, that's how the old doctors worked.
I am aware of a, shall be say, clash of personalities involving a certain Egyptian inspector, who went on to become Chief Inspector of Upper Egypt, etc etc. new rules came into play as far as digs were concerned, which although these days are reluctantly accepted, were, shall we say not tolerated in those earlier days.

Re: Immortal Egypt
Thanks for the explanation, A-Four. I really liked programmes presented by him and always found him very easy to understand - without the histrionics of a certain 'lady expert'!
