Are these clues because I am still not on the same wavelength. Maybe I am getting too old or like it seems no one really knows

I am not sure a thread of 'Stepping stone is XYZ' 'No, I think it's ZYX' serves any real purpose other than to feed the specific troll and also the other tolls standing in the wings gloating and adding fuel to their own fires for when they are ready to light them.

If the real identity of Stepping Stones is known, and I do mean known for certain, then there is probably nothing wrong in declaring it following their own attempt at 'name and shame', as they have set the precedence for themselves. If the real identity is not known, then perhaps we should all move on to other things.

The original thread was about gossip. There is a danger of everyone getting sucked into further gossip, which really helps no one and serves no useful purpose.

I've posted the evidence I have been given that's available pointing to one person and I've more or less said who it points to cannot make it any clearer without asking Brian Yare if it really is him.

This is the kind of disgraceful foul sort of posts that us regulars have to put up with when you cease moderating of the forum to let the no-brands have a free leash at lashing other members. Roll on the end of March. Bad decision, had to really censor it in case any genuine children are reading it as part of their course work.

Personally as far as I know I don't know the man so have no idea why he would wish to make these type of posts unless it's to do the dirty work for others with no balls I know which cafe most gossip originates from and cannot believe how often people rush to do the dirty work for them often on here or through pm

I have spoken with Bombay as to mine and another members theory as to the identity of ss and her collaborator. I say my evidence is far stronger than that of Bombay,s, so its a stalemate. I have no intentions reveling the name, just the sex. If the other member that I've been conferring with decides to put the name on here, well, that is their decision.

I would probably reach the same conclusion as you dusak if I didn't have the other evidence given to me

I think it is a result of all the uniformed gossip in luxor in which many are implicated inc your suspect I have heard so much of it before and been told where a good deal of it originated from or passes through gossip is not unique to luxor there are supposedly no secrets anywhere all usually traded over a garden fence.

Keefy-I want to ask you a question. When people join this forum, they are agreeing to certain rules. But in return, they expect you to enforce those rules. Isn't it in a way a violation of your side of the bargain to allow for anyone to say anything anonymously and accuse anyone of anything and then lock it and leave it? I just find you starting this thread strange and I am really curious as to WHY you are allowing this? Care to let us know what your motives are?

And I will add, playing devil's advocate here. How do we know that SS is not YOU? You could have made those posts, and then made up the story that it was the same IP address as someone else. I'm not saying that is what I suspect, but really you basically have thrown out some tidbits as have others that could implicate A LOT of people, all but one who are probably totally innocent. The way you have handled this sort of just stirs up the pot, even though you know exactly who is behind it. It may be all unintentional but I agree with Dusak's remarks above, this is not the way to handle it.

You gave us this free for all thread, but that doesn't mean we need to take the bait. I for one am not going to use it to implicate anyone. I've defended Brian, although I could also be wrong about him, but I'd rather put out evidence that it isn't him than allow him to be slandered without due process, especially when YOU know exactly who is behind it all and you could put a stop to the speculation if you wanted to do so.

I don't understand all this jargon about IP addresses but if I understand it correctly each computer has a special IP address and this is traceable.
Bombay you said that SS posted from the same IP address each time he or she posted well doesn't that make sense unless of course SS is more than one person using different computors.
If I post more than once I should imagine that my IP address would remain the same.
Then you said that this frequent poster, registered member logged on at 3.30 on Sunday 27th March but didn't post. Then SS posted. Don't understand?
I log on and often don't even read the posts but play the games.
Perhaps I'm missing something here and need to have it explained more simply

Due to the constant bitching on the forum and off, I and many others are sick to death of it.
I have done this so people can say what they wanna say, and hopefully people will feel better for it. Hopefully the forum can get back to normal then.

Since you are not at the end of this constant **** then you wont know how it feels to be accused of terrible things which are unfonded.

Each internet connection has a unique IP address that identifies its location. There are fixed IP addresses and temporary ones. Unless you pay extra for it, you are going to have a temporary one. A fixed one is needed if you want to run a server with a website so that the website can be found continuously.

I don't know how often TE-Data changes your IP address, but some Internet Service Providers change your IP address every 10 days or so. If you shut off your modem for a while, it also normally resets your IP address. Sometimes this needs to be done if you are having trouble connecting to the internet. It then gets reassigned to someone else in your area for a while.

But this means that at least for a certain period of time, that IP address is unique to one modem. However, of course, that modem could be supplying internet to multiple computers, which then would share the same IP address. Hence Keefy's remarks about a hotel. You could have a guest in the lobby using the same IP address as the hotel owner at the same time on different computers. Sometimes though the website also records the type of computer and browser the user is using so in that case even if you had the same IP address at least you could know they were different devices (which of course could belong to one person).

There are websites where you can input an IP address and it will tell you 1-What Internet Service Provider the person is using, and 2-the general location of the IP address, usually a city, region or country. These aren't always accurate. Google uses these to determine your location for showing you news and showing you a specific version of Google. One time, and only one time, Google thought I was in Israel when I actually was in Giza!

I once was accused of something completely unfounded far more dangerous to me and in a much more public way than anything that gets said on here. I dealt with it by calmly explaining what really happened to the extent that I could without compromising anyone else's safety and by being polite and diplomatic to the person who was spreading the false accusations. I did not escalate the situation even though I had friends encouraging me to do so, because really the consequences of doing so under the circumstances could have been completely devastating.
