I gave it to you, but more to the point, when I came to this forum I did so for general chat and banter and maybe, just maybe some interesting snippets on ancient Egypt which I enjoy greatly. Unfortunately with the lack of interest in Egypt at the moment we get very few enquiries from would be visitors or travelogues that people have posted and very few articles or pictures as used to be the case, most topics seem to revolve around local issues or Egyptian politics. However, although I don’t mind the odd bit of political debate and leg pulling with the likes of Newcastle, I really have no intention or desire to have every post dissected to the nth degree and to provide reams of evidence for every comment I may make. By the same token I have no intention of having to read the numerous web links supplied by you then plough through the contents of them just to see why you may disagree with me, or more likely to try and prove your own point of view. We could play that game all day with me posting loads more links to counter yours and to support my own standpoint, I have yet to see a link on the web that cannot be countered by another one somewhere else.

I am sure that like myself you do not have the definitive answers to all things political and neither do any of us hold a monopoly on having an opinion on everything from Brexit to the suitability of the next American President to hold the office, we all think differently. On here we like to throw in our two cents worth and kick it around without getting to deep, nothing should be taken too seriously or bogged down with ones own political dogma. For my part I could argue equally as well to remain in the EU as to leave it, or that Trump and Farage are the most evil men to draw breath or both are saints. I will happily play the Devils advocate on here just to get the topics going, but one thing I don’t do is to take any of this too seriously as you seem to do.

Afghanistan is really the only time NATO has come together as a true fighting force since its formation, check how many of these countries put troops into 'the field of battle', (Germany was not one of them, their troops were kept to the far north of Afghanistan, out of harms way, one might say.) may I suggest you now check the casualties of this war, nation by nation,......................... .

P.S. Having looked at those figures, you will begin to understand why the U.S. Is non to keen on the future of NATO. In a recent inspection by NATO intelligence it was discovered that 50% of all mechanised apparatus of the German armed forces, including military aircraft and tanks, could not effectively enter the field of war, because they are either too old or lacked vital parts. That is one of the main reasons why the U.K. will not be part of a European Army,................... Cheers.

You seem to be making a habit of selective, truncated quotes these days.

I suggest you re-read Hafiz' posts, and perhaps, if you can be bothered, the Washington Post & NATO sources to which he refers. You will find that, depending on which aspect of NATO expenditure you are considering, both Hafiz' 22% and Horus' 75% figures have a place in any discussion.

By the way, neither WP nor NATO are "dodgy media outlets" but you may have to resort to the internet to read up on them.
