Night before last it was funny. Mum & Kinkie came down first, she is definitely thickening round the middle! She also gets given first choice of the food now.
Shortly afterwards Tufty came down & was eating, he takes the food off the table & sits back in the flowerbed by the terrace wall to eat. Doesn't do a lot for the plants but hey!
Missie came bouncing down, slim as ever, didn't see him laying down & landed on him! He just opened his mouth in that funny silent bark the males do & went all submissive. They then took it in turns to eat, bit like one of those cuckoo clocks one in one out.
They all seem extremely polite, whenever somebody is waiting the fox that is eating moves away to let them in.
Kinkie's nasty wound has completely healed. You can just make out a darker patch of fur when he turns in a certain angle now.

I forgot to say Sue, pleased you have your own foxes now, how are they doing?
A couple of things ours love are dog chew sticks, I get them in the market at 2 bags of 50 for about £1-2 and dried dog biscuits, they are good for their teeth Mum says.

I put out a french stick tonight and they kept coming back for it a bit at a time, dipped and covered in all kinds of fat juices. I took about 40 pics but no good all without flash or tripod so mostly deleted but managed one that you can just about see. Trying hard to post it for you to see. This was the first night that two actually came together except one shot off really fast.

Sue

She's absolutely lovely & what a great picture, well done  , her colour has really come out well.
From the dark tail I would think she is quite young herself, probaly last years litter, that's not to say she won't start a family this year! You'll soon notice a weight gain round the middle if she is. What have you called her?

She does look really young and stares straight at me sometimes. I try to tell her she is safe and we are harmless, but not sure I quite have your ability Fran, but she is definitely getting braver and last night although I tried to get pictures of the two foxes the dog fox was so quick he just grabbed some food and shot off.
Amazing Stan's old camera I set to a C setting and I have no idea how it is set up, read my book tonight and that setting just remembers other settings so I got lucky without the flash to even get a picture. It is great though seeing them.
Also my son saw a badger running from one field to the other when leaving our house the other night, now that is something I would really love to see, I have only ever seen a badger dead at the side of the road I have never seen one in real life.

Just a quick update as we have been nipping through to watch them. 3 down at the moment, Mum, Kinkie & Missie. Mum is so heavily pregnant now she really plods & the others always come down with her. From the day she told us she was pregnant it should be some time this week, almost the same time as last year & 1 month earlier than average!
She managed to sneak down on her own a couple of days ago because she wanted a private chat! She joined me in the bathroom & told me "I keep p**ing too" :(
She wanted to look at me so I had to go and stand beside the window so that she could see me & then she sent me the pains she was getting in her belly/hip so that she could ask if that was normal? I explained it was only a cub pressing on a nerve & it would stop when it moved. "Oh good" :D
She said Kinkie was fussing & she wished he would leave her alone sometimes :!:
She asked would I make sure that when she had the cubs there was food that would be easy for him to carry, sometimes it needed eating in situ (tinned meat, mince etc) Yes I would. Good :D
Missie is hovering around her as well & says she will help too :D She isn't pregnant (or if she is she doesn't show) but neither of us think she is.

How are yours doing Sue? Will they cope with you being away?

It is still only the little Vixen that visits the dog Fox must come when we are in bed. I tend to call her Lady now, she loves the fatty bread with all the meat juices on it. Sometimes now she actually lays down to eat but more often she is snatching bits going away and then coming back a few minutes later. John will put stuff out for her while I am away so no worries there. There will soon be plenty about again in the wild though especially here we see loads of baby bunnies :( Still such is nature.
Glad yours are doing well bet it will be lovely to se the cubs. :)

Oh good, I'm glad John will take care of Lady. Funny how their names suddenly come isn't it? We didn't deliberately name ours but it just happened.
Now that she's laying down it's a sign of her trust in you, you must be so pleased. If they aren't an item, or possibly siblings, they may be intentionally avoiding each other.

Well Lady visited me tonight and I tried to get a pic or two, not very good as still no tripod or flash sorted out. She seems to be less afraid these days and John has promised to look out for her while I am away.

A healthy looking vixen Sue. Have a good trip.

We where away this weekend but on Sunday night saw Kinkie collecting food to take back. The normal clearance of dog biscuits etc did not occur so I suspect he is paying close attention to Mum by not staying out too long. We think the next generation have arrived :)

Sue - all you were missing was the forward slash on the last tag [/img]

BBLUX - how long will it be before she brings them out of the den and you might get to see them?

Sue she's beautiful & in colour. :D
Mum kept the last lot in for a couple of months & then even longer before she bought them over here. The trouble with having them so early of course is that it's very cold. Can't wait to hear from her as to how many & how they are. Neither she nor Missie are in touch at the moment :( That is hopefully a good sign, if there was a problem they would be asking for advice. At least there are no more labour pains! :D

Well the new slim line Mum came down last night :D
I have a feeling of 5 cubs, only because there was a teat spare when she was feeding, Mum doesn't count the way we do. It could have just been that 1 wasn't feeding but when I went to bed I got the same feeling, as well as a wonderful sense of warmth & contentment :D
During the evening Kinkie came & took some food back for Mum, then Tufty did the same & they all shared it.
Missie said she was washing one of the cubs, including under it's tail the way Mum had shown her :urm: That was the first time she had been trusted to do it.
She obviously got it right because about an hour later, after Kinkie had gone back Mum came back alone. I had forgotten to put the "fluffies" out & was just going to sleep when Missie reminded me, so I went down at 12.45 with a load of day old chicks! Kinkie took some back but could only manage 1 at a time, Mum came down & took 3-4 at 1 time, so that she could share them with Missie.
Lovely to see her & know that they are all getting on so well.

I can picture that. It is a lovely thought. Your dedication to them will be a lifeline to those cubs with the weather in the Uk being so bad at the moment.
