Sue I got a new laptop just to show it to you on. Well a good excuse!
Have definitely seen all 5 cubs now. It's quite difficult to identify 9 foxes! Haven't got names for all yet. We struggled for 2 days to come up with a name for the big male, nothing seemed right.
Saturday afternoon Mum said "Hello. Where are you" I showed her some images of where we had been (Essex) & then Missie joined in, followed shortly by a third asking "Who are you talking to?"
It was Beauty (the very dainty vixen with a lot of white on her front & the front of her legs). We christened her that when she came down and joined Missie at the table, Missie looked at the camera and looked back at her as much as to say this is my sister, isn't she lovely? We were watching live & agreed she was.
Mum & Missie explained who we were & she than asked the big male "Big do you know them?" So I guess that's his name, his sister can't be wrong.
We then concentrated on establishing contact, with Mum & Missie helping to piggy back the signals. We got home shortly after & I went out in to the back garden & Beauty said "I know where you are now"
Since then she has made a point of coming down & staring in at us through the window & communicating. I think she may well get very strong powers, if they are this developed already.
There is another quite timid little vixen, unnamed, as well as one other dog (we think) also unnamed. Barry asked Sunday whether Tufty was still around & Missie bought him down with her to show us that he was
Kinkie comes down for the occasional treat but the males leave the food for the cubs.
Barry made fried bread, using the fat from the meat & put it out last night, still hot. Mum came down immediately and I warned her it was hot but she loved it, ate the lot! She was down before I had got back inside & just waited on the steps. Kinnie waited for her to arrive & then came in ahead of her.
Tonight we have had an all time high of 4 foxes and 2 hedgehogs down at the same time, with the other cubs putting in appearances as well. Haven't seen the adults, apart from Mum who comes down first to check things out. She sends Kinnie in if we are late now, feeling positively fox pecked instead of hen pecked these days
Will try to get Barry to post some pictures of the cubs.

That was so vivid I did not need to close my eyes to imagine it.

Thank you. It's lovely seeing such a happy affectionate family, they all greet each other when they meet. Mum is so contented this time after the problems with DB last year.

Haven't posted lately, too busy enjoying watching them all.
Tonight I am feeling very guilty about a very handsome male fox who is nameless, the only one now.

He has tended to stay away or come down when we are not around but tonight he came down & lay down beside the pond & later relaxed down by the feeding table.
He is not particularly big, has dark ears, legs & tail but quite a pale chest. Just don't know what to call him. The others now all have names the last female was christened Fenec after Kiya sent me a mail about the lovely fox picture. She is tiny with enormous ears
The others are Blackie who isn't any more
Big, the biggest male cub - christened by Beauty
Beauty a vixen with lots of white
Suggestions please.

What about Reynard ?
I'm now sure that the noises that we've heard are foxes. Each evening when we get home and go out the the garden we see a fox walking across the next field to the direction where the noises came from.

Oh how lovely, maybe you should feed him/her in the winter?
Reynard is a definite possibility, he is handsome & confident & Reynard sounds as though he would be

Will see BB's reaction first before committing then will check it out with the foxes.

Well last night I was woken up about 1.30am by a fox and it is not like me as I can sleep through an earthquake (so I've been told) it came from the my next door neighbour's garden and started rubbing itself up against the hedge.

Only just seen these posts Fran, so a new laptop as well that's great. They all sound so wonderful really looking forward to seeing them even more now.
How about Oscar for a name, I was thinking of Oscar Wilde actually probably not very apt though.

Too late for Oscar I'm afraid, we have settled on Reynard. He was in the garden when I got back last night at 11p.m. after 4 hour flight delay
I have never seen such a laid back cub. The others all fidget around, like typical restless kids, he just comes, sits down eats, looks nonchalently around & then eats some more, often he just sits in the flower beds looking relaxed & flattening the plants

I'll nag BB, he has been busy editing & putting some of the nightly recordings on to disc ready for the meeting. It is a slower process getting still captures to post.

BB has all week so no excuse for not posting some pictures!
Mum was really sweet last night, she checked Barry over really thoroughly & said his blood was sluggish "she showed me thick (like stagnant) water, and said he smelt funny & there was something wrong with the back of his knee. She said she would be teaching somebody else how to do it as well but I'm not sure who it was, I think it might be Fenec.
If anybody didn't get to see the DVD & would like to send me a PM with your address we can pop one in the post to you, it may not be until BB goes back to work as its easier to copy there.

We were watching the DVD last night, such great pictures, John said what an absolute banquet you lay out for them. I loved the bit where the cat chases after them, good stuff thanks Fran and Barry.

You're welcome Sue, glad you enjoyed it. Shows all the stories of foxes killing cats for the urban myth they are!
Did it show him stopping as he got near, he just fancies Missie!

Night before last, he chased 1 & then Missie came back & made him jump

I'm sure its a game with those 2.
Fenec is gaining in confidence & coming down more, always with somebody else though.
BB will post more pictures, he is off for at least another week yet, but pretty tired still.

That would be good Fran to see more pictures, mine seem scarce at the moment as I reckon they are coming when I have gone to bed now, the food is gone in the morning though, still with the nights now drawing in it is only a matter of time until we are fox watching again I reckon.
Hope Barry is up to full strength again soon.
