Well done (so far) Kiya
I also liked it when you first posted it because you had focussed on the dry dock and excluded any superfluous detail around it. It is a good record shot and Good Luck in the next round.

Thank you all for the nice comments & Good Lucks.
Thinking about it after I guess this dry dock pic fits the theme of "Buchan" (my area) perfectly, its situated in the heart of the harbour & more than likely older than all the population living in Peterhead now.
It could tell a few stories I bet of all the boats that have been in here.
Will you let you know of results when I have them.

Well winter really struck today with high white horses & howling gales

its got much worse as the day went on.
I took this 1 at 10 15am using manual, I only auto enhanced it once cropped when panorama finished.
F/14 1.320sec 34 mm
Its much reduced in size here.

I captured this guy quite conveniently as he landed on my luggage once I got off the ferry. Never noticed 'til I cropped the photo but I think he was "pooping" on my luggage! Hadn't realized the downside to cropping a photo before. Now I can see what I never knew existed before!!
By the by I've just enrolled in a digital photography course at the local community college starting next week. A six week course that is once a week for 3 hours. Each student brings their own camera and instruction book and we go from there. This is the absolute basics and then there are 2 more levels. Am excited!

I don't think Mr wasp was pooping on your luggage LLL, more likely he was attracted by some dropplets of water or maybe a sugared drink that had splashed on your case, but then again ........................
Good luck with the camera course, I bet you will be like Kiya and bursting with new found abilities

Thanks Horus, its just so bad today again, so grey & bleak, its hard to see where the horizon is, grey skies, grey sea.....brrrrrrrrrrrr.
LLL wish you gave a warning about your wasp pic , them creepy crawlies always give me a shudder, great close up
And good luck on your course, I'm sure your going to enjoy it & with fellow students helping each other too.
It sounds very much like the course I've been on, I'm starting my 3rd level soon & will be working with Raw , I'm really looking forward to that.

It's weird I really can't imagine cold & grey, despite having been frozen in Norfolk in June
Good luck with the courses

I saw advertised tonight on telly a new program starting this coming Tuesday........I didn't catch what time so check your TV mags.
HOW TO MAKE STUNNING PICTURES on CH5

I'll have to try and catch that program on telly. I'm excited about this course mostly cause I WAS actually able to get into the class and wasn't put onto a waitlist AND once I take the beginner course I can then move up to the other courses that build on this one. I think there is a series of 6 all together with a few of the 6 being Editing programs too.
I've found my learning to be random hit and miss. I read something or get an explanation on here and I understand but I have a feeling I'm missing the big overall picture so am hoping this course will nicely put it all together.

Kiya, thanks for the tip, this is the preamble to the programme on 5
How to Take Stunning Pictures (Special Interest)
Time - 19:30 - 20:00 (30 minutes long)
When - Tuesday 14th September on Five
Photography masterclass presented by Suzi Perry. Celebrity photographer Harry Borden instructs two budding snappers in how to turn simple snapshots of friends and family into stunning portraits. Harry's students are then put to the test with assignments that include producing a heroic portrait for the Help for Heroes charity.
Probably best to bring this to the top again on Monday evening.
