BIBBY 18 YEARS

She's going away,
I heard her purr,
As the black box clanked
Open upon the bed.
The green eyes sent their thoughts into my mind.

Perhaps if I get inside she will take me with her,
If I meow sweetly and rub my fur close to her hand,
That gentle hand,
That loving hand,
Maybe I will also go to that other land.

So many times these precious moments stirred my soul.
Familiar feelings to treasure
Now they were gone.
Lost, already somewhere in a distant dream,
My old friend had travelled before me,
Passing into the light of a different realm.

Her spirit remains around me,
Bringing me joy within memories held,
As now she rests in a peaceful land
With dear friends of old,
Shaded by the newly opened leaves of the young Oak tree,
While the blossoms around start to fall.

Thank you, I lost her a week before my visit to Luxor and on my return home the greeting was missing, I suppose that was what gave me these thoughts to put down on paper.
Some people think it strange that animals can mean so much, others understand how much they become part of a family.
I have been lucky to know mine.

Sue...that was great!

(We lost Ellie some time back! Burman. Eyes like Kate O'mara (wide-eyed and a bit mad), claws like a lion!

She is now under a rose bush.....unfortunately, that has also gone where she has gone. Got to get a new one.....bush that is, not cat.

Making do with a zillion large, small and tiny, pot, wood, glass, brass, bronze, silver replicas.)

Presently we are being ordered about by next door's black and white moggy.

Thanks Dabby, All my old girls are gone now but Sarah still has her 9 year old cat here. Somehow she is not like mine were, perhaps I will form an attachment with her given time. She was 6 when she arrived back home with her & a bit hissy to my lot, not quite the same as knowing them from kittens.

They are very much part of the family like you Sue my cat was 18 when I had to get her put to sleep and that was 5 years ago and she can never be replaced.
