My Egypt, My Life.

Post by Dusak »

My Egypt, My Life.

The dark shadows that creep,
unhindered, across our lives,
casting dark upon dark,
cold upon cold.
No light tonight.

My children, my treasures,
weep silently, watching, waiting,
for that familiar tread,
the creek of the door.
No Papa tonight.

The rice bin lays empty,
the grain is all gone,
our stomachs cry out,
braking the silence, feeding the fear.
No food tonight.

Once we had so little,
but we had each other,
the children a farther,
our protector, provider.
No laughter tonight.

The baby grows week,
her tiny chest,
rising, fighting, to keep
that small hart pumping.
No medicine tonight.

The vermin, the dust,
now encroaching, invading,
our once warm home,
now lays cold, dank.
No warmth tonight.

I now sit alone, blood still warm,
my treasures, now still, at peace,
their smiles have returned,
Papa now holds their hands.
No life tonight.

What a moving poem.

I think I need to read it a few more times to fully take it in.

Yes very touching Dusak. And where would you like it moved to Hepzi, the virus vault perhaps? Its probably something he intended to send to me.

[face=Comic Sans MS]I will be quite content to leave it here in Literary corner, just as I have left works of Mrs. D. :)

Dusak - Just one thing, when you post poetry please would you name the author. [/face]

Mrs. D. has every reason not to trust Dusak. I have had it checked over for viruses. It was cleared, and having passed it through the enigma machine, there appears to be no hidden codes. But the problem was when I decided to send it to the psychology department for psycho-analysis, and it came back marked with a red alert. I am not quite sure how to handle dead and dying children with smiles on their faces, and I find it far from entertaining, even in a poetical sense. Mrs. D. has never written about such things. Indeed I have seen similar works of poetry written by Peter Sutcliffe. The author, you will probably find in Broadmoor married to Rose West. I am wondering if they have let one of my ex-cons out, indeed, if so, then I am dead meat!

Anyway, nobody else seems to like it apart from you Hepzi. Perhaps you wrote it, and Dusak found it when he was raking through your rubbish bin, and immediately recognised it as a work of art and of considerable value to the nation.

You've read that book as well Mrs D!! An interesting literary artifact. Peter Sutcliffe also had the worrying tendacy of always referring to himself in the third person as well. Its a common trait among a certain sector of society i'm led to believe. ;)

Ghadis is wondering who wrote the poem. Is it one of yours Dusak? He's not sure what to make of it to be honest.

Ive never personally met Sutcliffe. I wasnt interesting enough for him to correspond with me. However, I have personally met quite a number like him who have not made the media as he did. As you say they do often refer to themselves in the third person as that way they are not guilty of the crimes they commit.

But really Ghadis, dont you think its sick? I'm sure Dusak only put it on to get me going. Indeed, it wouldnt surprise me in the least if he did not write it himself just for effect.

Just look at the last verse where he sits amongst the dead children gloating.

One things for sure, it has not come from my mind, hand or wastepaper basket also, I didn't say I liked it, I said it was moving and that is a very different thing. I certainly don't see the same things in the piece as Mrs. D but then if I believe all I read of 'her' I don't have anything like her extensive training and research to fall back on for analysist.

Now then folks, don't go all 'Troll Doll' in this corner.

I don't think it is 'sick' at all MrsD. If i spent my time thinking various aspects of literary endevours were 'sick', i wouldn't waste my time reading Chekhov, Burroughs, Dickens, Nabokov, or, indeed, Sutcliffe.

I don't think its very good though.

Hepzi, Mrs. D. is not a forum Troll. You must be talking about yourself again, and transferring on to me. I suggest you go and have a quick course on bullying on Q's forum. It might help to get you into a frame of mind whereby you do not see yourself as a natural victim, or indeed a bully. I notice you seem to swing between the two?

Well, I suppose the likes of Rose West would also be 'moved' by it. Indeed she would probably frame it and put it in her cell.

Or pink elephants! But what about the poem, is it really worthy of 128 page hits in 24 hours?

Oh dear, here we go again.

Post by Dusak »

I write all my own poetry, and I may be considered good by some, a load of tosh by others. That does not interest me. I wrote this one as a few weeks ago I heard a story about an Egyptian friend of a friend that had lost her husband and had five children to support. It seemed for some reason that help was in short supply, they even had to carry the coffin for burial as no money was available for transport, (christian) so I gave my friend 1000 le to pass on to the family. And no, before you start calling me a do gooder with hidden agenda's, I am available to help any one in need, as I have done many times in the past and will continue to do so as and when I see fit.

The topic of the poem was after I got to thinking how difficult it would be to survive without family or friends and money in a country such as this. Could a human being be capable of ending their children's life if it meant freeing them from a worst pain? After reading up on the net about mercy killings, I found out that this is quite so, that being the reason for the content.

To compare a person to the likes of the West's just because of not liking a poem is horrendous to contemplate and an insult to the families of the deceased. I take it Mrs D that you are suffering from problems with viruses on your computer, well I am not one to stoop that low, having suffered over six months of similar problems and now have a very expensive anti this that and the other system of protection on my computer. The jottings that pass between you and I, I consider are a bit of harmless fun, as your above postings verify, you come onto me quite strong at times, but I will continue to, I hope, to give as good as I get. And yes, at times I do see one of you're comments at me and say, "the cheeky b********", but never loose sleep about them.

On a more personal note, reading your posts, I consider you one of the more intelligent contributors, well read and traveled, so a good adversary, but please, not comparisons to child murders or the such like, you all ready know my opinions as what I think should be done in that aspect of life. xxxxxxxxxxxx

For just a short time I was again a bit bored so spent an hour or so trawling though all the old members posts. This is a good way to relieve boredom. It also reminded me that a lot of the good posters from past times no longer submit material. Can you imagine what the entries would be like if the writing competitions where re-established? With entries from the likes of I.P. Freely, Gordon 292, Bullet Magnet and the like. We could even have Stan the man and Teddyboy editing/correcting :D all the mistakes in spelling and grammar so there would be no misunderstandings for the thicko's

I'd almost forgotten about this poem and I have to say it was funny to see that opinions have not changed that much concerning post and posters. I have only just mentioned the evil Mr P. Sutcliffe on a recent post and here I am being likened to him as well as Rose West. And I had forgotten that I to had been referred to as a Troll as well as a provider of computer nasties to create havoc. I very much miss the late, grate Mrs. D  for he could change from an intelligent conversational topic to a scathing wit at the turn of a hat. Many times copied but never bettered.
