Finally! A bread that came out right!

I've spent years doing battle trying to get bread to come out right here, but thanks to most of the yeast not being able to raise even a bubble of energy - it's normally an unmitigated disaster.
But thanks to my new Irish cookbook - I'm now the Queen of Soda Bread!
It rises, it cooks, it looks great and it's edible. All bonuses in my opinion!
Success at last!

But is it only the yeast? If so, couldn't you bring it outside Egypt? I bought mine from Finland...some other ingredients too.

Well done Goddess, we are now the proud new owners of a bread making machine - the smell of the bread cooking is absolutely wonderful

Laban Rayeb, Tony.
You can either get it fresh from the milk shop - or labanita make one.
I drink it quite often to ward off tummy problems - especially after a curry!

Thanks Goddess. There are very few things I miss from home, but a Soda Farl is one of them. Fresh the first day, and toasted or fried for the Ulster Fry the next day. Yuuummmy.

Thank you for the offer that is very kind, but now I know I can get the buttermilk Im going to make some myself. Pass through Karnak when you are here and you might catch a waft of the smell from my hotplate.
