What are you cooking for babies in egypt? Or do you buy baby food in glasses? Is it possible?

Not in Egypt of course, but I never bought baby food for my girls. They ate what we ate. I just put theirs through the blender first. I froze their homemade baby food in ice cube trays and popped them into freezer bags. That's what I sent to daycare with them also.

My little boy was being weaned when we were in Egypt last Winter. I use to make my own and freeze it in ice cube trays, he started off on things like pureed carrots, sweet potato etc. This biggest problem I found is that there is not much fruit suitable for a baby in winter in Luxor. You have to be careful with things like strawberries and citrus fruits which are in abundance in Luxor in the Winter.

He used to have mashed bananas but the only other fruit in season was melons and guavas (too bitty for a baby) but to buy apples were really expensive and not as nice as Apples in the UK. For variety I used to buy him fruit puree jars in Omars as they used to have jars of Apples and Pears,Plums, blackcurrants etc but they were quite expensive about 5.00le for 1 jar.

The Gerber's jars are really handy and there's a good variety :) You can also get Hipp Organic jars at some pharmacies.

Totally agree about the fruit; the bananas can often cause upset tummies too. I used to puree vegetables then as the children got older added chicken etc :)

There aren't much suitable fruits during wintertime but how about vegetables. Of course you'd have to cook them first but that's not hard thing to do :)

Yess- there were loads of vegetables that he used to have, but as he got older and needed more variety this wasn't much to give him in regards to fruit! Obviously he would have started off with veggies!:)
