Why oh Why on earth should the woman pay for the Orfi, it's for the man's benefit let him pay.

Its for mutual benefit Carrie. She [in most cases] wants the jigyjigy, he wants the moneymoney. Most landlords need to cover their own backs by seeing the all powerful bit of paper before he will rent out the sinbin to another 'client.' He would never for one instance use his own money, so will even make on the paper deal as well. No good having the key to the bank if you haven't got the permission to put it in the lock.carrie wrote:Why oh Why on earth should the woman pay for the Orfi, it's for the man's benefit let him pay.
Life is your's to do with as you wish- do not let other's try to control it for you. Count Dusak- 1345.

Anyone getting the key to my Bank would just encounter tumbleweed blowing across the vault floor and the wind whistling through a empty Mars Bar wrapper!
So good luck on that one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: How much did you pay for your orfi?
Hi all, first time posting on here so be gentle lol
I can see that this post has not been replied to in a while..
But, I was wondering if anyone here has paid for an Orfi marriage (green paper) recently, especially in Luxor?
Some people I speak to say that it is extremely difficult to get the green paper now?
Also, what did you pay or anyone else you might know pay for the green paper?
There is a lot of useful information on this site and I am glad I have joined, so I would really appreciate any responses.
Many thanks,
Sarah

Re: How much did you pay for your orfi?
A year ago, I believe around 100LE although they will say around £200 English. Have just asked an Egyptian friend what's the going rate,
The above poll suggests 300LE

Actually, it suggests it is stupid to have one at all! (I feel like I am channeling Stan here for some reason)

Re: How much did you pay for your orfi?
Since it seems to be a contract would the price not depend on the Attorney used, how many clauses there are, if it needs to be translated into English FIRST or as well by an independent translator (HINT HINT and STRONGLY suggested) plus court costs etc etc etc ???

Re: How much did you pay for your orfi?
@dsaxelby - I don't have one but my best gf does. She has a traditional 'green' one from the high glory days that translates "Hi old golden babe - hand over all your cash and assets to me and I'll love you for the rest of your life and/or 6 months whichever comes first!"
Don't have one but believe me I vicariously know all about them. I believe hers cost about 1000LE at the time - just for the paper (believe me it cost her LOTS LOTS mega LOTS more than that in the end although the actually total END is not yet not yet)

I am sure that some would prefer to know the code so that they do not need to put it in.Dusak wrote: No good having the key to the bank if you haven't got the permission to put it in the lock.

Re: How much did you pay for your orfi?
You Start off with the contract once signed blah blah it goes somewhere and comes back in Egyptian Green all sealed etc
Just saying because tomorrow I should be divorced from my illegally signed non-enforceable in any other country Orfi. Oh my second divorce because his I divorce you 3 times (3rd in text ) was somehow not enforceable....
Just saying lol... fingers crossed, watch this space and all that, faith none at all
ps also going for money paid based on this illegal Orfi .......... ok chances are slim but his worried that's worth half the money
pps already celebrating been trying to divorce longer than I was married that will teach me
ppps my new one will only marry me in Cairo 'because he loves me'

My suitors really love me and respect my background. Nothing less than a Danish church will do - that is how serious and understanding they are.

Re: How much did you pay for your orfi?
Over time my gf found out hers had an Egyptian wife and kids plus multi mega other wives of various nationalities all with green/blue/purple/pink/God only knows what colour papers. I lost track (and interest really) in the number of wives somewhere around the uncovering of Wifeys #5 or #6.
I'm aware the limit of wives per Egyptian male is 4. I'd love to know what happens when this number is exceeded? Is it just a high five from the other Gigalos on the Corniche? A celebratory giving of baksheesh to each other? Or are there some serious sanctions that can apply?

Re: How much did you pay for your orfi?
The green paper gives a date to go before a judge/Mullah some man (not necessarily in Cairo) and then something is signed I believe this is the correct procedure, he can have 4 of these.
However, this part is not completed so essentially it's just a promise to marry and guys can have hundreds of these.
Saying that this is Egypt, and not wanting to test the legality of this I have opted for a divorce, even my lawyer said my paper was legal! A legal marriage or a legal promise to marry? absolutely no idea.
I suspect the women rarely come together to bring the man down, I personally get on very well with his wife number 2
Would suggest you google your intended, I think Topex or Topix website actually allow names to be posted. Guess what my ex is now on there

I thought it cost you everything you own because it all became the property of the husband.

Why English? Do all Orfi spouses speak English?LovelyLadyLux wrote:Since it seems to be a contract would the price not depend on the Attorney used, how many clauses there are, if it needs to be translated into English FIRST or as well by an independent translator (HINT HINT and STRONGLY suggested) plus court costs etc etc etc ???
