Inspired by New Gals post on films you can watch again and again - last night when I picked up my extremely battered copy of Lord of the Rings I wondered - what are your most battered and well read paperbacks? Which novels do you keep coming back to as faves?

1) Lord of the Rings
2) The Hobbit
3) The Kite Runner
4) Shogun (James Clavell)
5) The Far Pavillions (M.M Kaye)
6) The Harry Potter Books (yep...I was a HP child. The first one came out when I was 10. )
7) Pride and Prejudice
8 ) Phantom (Susan Kay)
9) Twilight (Stephenie Meyer)

Those are probably the most battered and abused books in my unhealthily large book collection.

1) Memoirs of a Geshia - Excellent
2) White Swan - Excellent
3) Da Vinci code - but only ever to chapter 6 so don’t think it counts!
4)The Book of God - took ages twice, but was awesome
5) How Stella Got her Groove Back - Just what I needed at the time!
6) The Heart Shaped Bullet - Great for all those who have had a MMHD experience!
7) The Price of Honour - Great insight into the Muslim culture from a female perspective.
8 Eight) Not Without My Daughter - totally, totally, totally awesome - sheds light on what could happen when things go wrong in mixed Muslim / non Muslim marriages when kids are involved.

my dictionaries




tried reading Harry Potter, but couldnt get into them, my son wanted me to read them aloud to him in bed, and I just found it so tiring - so convulated descriptive passages, I kept skipping bits and he didnt believe my 'summaries .

i love those little history books - shire books, very thin - sort of pocket histories - got quite a few of them
