Jelly butties

From time to time Old Wiz is called on to provide honorary grandfather duties and look after one, two or even three of the small children who's Egyptian parents are friends of mine. I try to invent new interests to keep them all occupied and out of trouble till there parents pick them up an hour or two later. Trying to find a diversity of occupations for a two year old, a three year old and a four year old is not easy, as many of you who have experienced looking after small children will testify.
Finding food they all like is no different as they all want something individual. By trial and error I have managed to come up with a novel idea for afternoon tea..... Jelly butties. My three can't get enough of them, and come to think of it; neither can I.
The butties are best made with the long fino type bread common in Luxor. Just cut the bread down one side and spoon in the jelly (strawberry is best) then sprinkle a little sugar to bring out the flavour of the jelly, and there you are, tree happy kids and a happy Wiz.
And before you politically correct child food experts come back to me with your advice, I do feed them with other nutritional food as well. My jelly butties are merely a treat.
