I have had rabbit lots of times. Here in Norway unfortunately rabbit is reduced to being just a pet, and almost not heard of on the menu.
Of course I understand young animals are better than older for food. But what is the best age for rabbit that is going in the cooking pot?

It depends of the breed because some do mature very fast. I would say giant breeds are ready from 3 months of age and others take longer, even 6 months to get "meaty" enough.

There are different breeds and different growth rates for rabbits but as a general rule we never used to butcher a rabbit until it had reached, at a minimum, 5 pounds weight. That would take anywhere from 3 to 6 months. Meat rabbits do have a fast growth. They are really delicious too!

I like rabbit too, but again very difficult to find in the UK, as meat that is! A shame really as very tasty and I believe it is very low in fat too.

I could make a dinner from a rabbit and eat it but I do not think I could bring myself slaughter it.
My husband refuses to eat rabbit because it reminds him of a cat.
People say you get the best molokheya made with rabbit.

I could never eat an animal I would consider having as a pet.
