Have you tried the spice and essential oil shop opposite the Sunset Hotel in Ali Iban Abi Taleb street off Madina el Mounawara street or the other one up near the government shop by the Police station in Madina el Mounawara? I have seen them in Luxor but can not remember exactly where.

You could try evaporating a bottle of gin and using the residue.

We have lots of juniper bushes where I go for a run on the fellside they just grow out of the rocks...a bit prickly mind, love the smell of the berries when you crush them, there were loads in Corsica too, but not sure if you would find them in Egypt........
not so according to Spurlock Illionois, funny that as they used them in days gone by for purposes of mummification

My Brain....
Brian Well what about the juniper bushes over there.
Folowrs A miracle! A miracle!
--------[A few of them go over to the bushes to eat.]
Folowr5 He has made the bush fruitful by His word.
Folowr2 They have brought forth juniper berries!
Brian Of course they've brought forth juniper berries, they're juniper
bushes! What do you expect?
Folowr1 Show us another miracle!
Folowr3 Do not tempt him, shallow ones! Is not the miracle of the juniper
bushes enough?................I need them here not in Blighty........

Yesterday two very kindly East Bank friends supplied me fresh & dried Juniper berries so my next 'oink oink cure will have added taste.
Today after much thought trying to invent a decent smoker I have finally converted my chimney to smoke the cured 'oink oink. I'm using eucalyptus leaves and sugar cane for the smoke as Hickory wood is unavailable.
What a fun life I lead.....

if not slightly a mad one !

Dearest Dr,
Delighted to know that the smoking is in situ & juniper is in the loop, to share a sample in delightful company would be such a bonus!X
