Lets see some more, dont forget your members name is hidden and the rating system is open all through the competition, so rate the photos when you view them
Hidden names are hidden from public view, you as a moderator have access to the back of the board so to speak so what difference does it make to you? The names were hidden during the last competition and we all know who won and the runners up!

Click on one of the photos (this will now show the full size photo) at the bottom of the photo you will see some information: Poster, Pic Title etc... under this there is a box saying Please Rate It: click the down arrow on the box and choose a number from 1 to 10 (1 lowest rate and 10 been the highest rate), once you have done that it will then register your rate for that photo and take you back to the original photo. Use the [Next Photo] or [Previous Photo] links at the top of the photo to move to another photo.
If you see a message in the box saying Already Rated (or your own pic) you have already rated this photo or it might be your own photo which you cant rate on.
I must be stupid, but I don't understand how the scoring works - if I vote for 10 I expect to see a 10 recorded, but it's not. Sometimes it ups the total by less than one, how can that be so?
The reason you don't see your 10 is because it averages the scores out eg the first person scores 5 the second gives a 10 therefore the average is 7.5 - you will only see your score if you are the first to vote.
You can vote for all the pictures and you can even give them the same score if you want if you think two are as good as each other.
So it is possible for a picture which has multiple small votes to win over a picture that has just a few maximum votes?
I'm with Phantom - should I vote for all the others or not, if I want my choice to win?
I still think it's easier if we just add up the votes awarded, I can't see the advantage of this system and it would be nice to see how high a total of votes reaches.
No if say ten people gave 2 points each to the same photo that is a total of 20 points divided by 10 gives 2 points. Whereas if one picture got say 9,8 & 4 that totals 21 - divide by 3 = 7.
I must admit I don't like this way of scoring as with so few voters the last few voters can drastically change the result especially if the voting is close - my preferred method is just to vote for one picture then the one with the most votes is the winner.
(And before anyone mentions it I know this isn't AVS)

In fairness you should vote say 10 for the picture you want to win 9 for 2nd place 8 for 3rd etc etc (but you can tie some) but if you wanted to help your choice then give all the others just 1 point.
I have read all the above about scoring the photo's but still dont' understand. At least I thought I did until today! I understood (but mayby this what I've misunderstood) the bit about each individual score then averagint out the complete scores across the board. But today when I looked a new photo has been added and received a score but the scores on the other photo's haven't changed. Please could someone help me get the proper scoring rules sorted out. Thanks.
Having a look at the votes I was wondering if some voters think that by giving a rating of 1 the picture is being given 1st place where in fact they are being given joint 10th place.
Keefy would it be possible to show how many voters voted for a picture?
