Magical Luxor

With Luxor and Karnak being centre of the Ancient Egyptian religious majesty it is hardly surprising how there has always been a sense of magic in the air when in Luxor.

I have always had an affinity with Luxor temple and the Ramesseum, cliché I know but over all the others even Karnak they are two which for me have always stirred a certain magic and spiritual power when ever I visit.

I feel drawn and powerless to resist visiting them and have experienced many a soulful moment of calm and serenity at those two sites. I understand their history and purpose are completely different in context and feel the Ramesseum is for me an amazing building for solace and reflection.

Where do you feel is the most ***MAGICAL*** place in Luxor and why...?

I guess for me it would be Habu( temple) very early in the morning, when i would sit on that big flat slab and watch while Sayed would fly Mara ( his golden eagle ), such peace before the tour coaches turned up :)

Spiritual moments

Luxor Temple and the Ramesseum?

More likely Sinbads and the Rest House!

The al-Rassouls do like their spirits!

Two places for me, the first being Luxor airport as I step off the plane onto the tarmac and the wonderful feeling of being back in Luxor again and the anticipation of the days ahead.

The second is Luxor temple, just after its opens in the morning. Just sitting and letting my eyes do the walking, always something new to see and learn, pure magic!

I agree with both Dave, that feeling when you get off the plane with the combination of that distinctive scent, heat and the promise of magic makes an amazing rush of a feeling.

Very well said Dave about the airport!

But I will have to go with Christine --- Habu... I love it. A place to be left alone with history and one own's thoughts.
