That's so disgusting! How could you, you PHILISTINE?! Everybody knows that Obelisk is virtually undrinkable! Nothing less than Omar can possibly suffice. Drag yourself out of the gutter, man, before it's too late!
Methinks no-one read the comments at the bottom of the page.
I always knew that red colouring came from Cocheneal.....I remember it being a question on Trivial pursuits many years ago.....I knew the answer and my sister was disgusted. (Wwhich led me to wonder how I knew and she didn't!)

S'funny that Lisak but I always knew about cochineal too.....think my mother once told me when we were icing cakes, I only half believed it, it seemed so disgusting, I mean what's wrong with beetroot?
No mention of Civic coffee in that article. Civic coffee being the Indonesian Bali coffee made with coffee beans that have passed through a civic cat. The civic cat cannot digest the bean completely and so the result is ground and made into coffee.
It is a very expensive coffee and not one I would be tempted to try.
Oooh I would Tony sounds very intense, and when you think about it, it's already partially digested. I imagine it's expensive as very labour intensive to produce, cant say I've ever come across it.
After the above 'fascinating topic title and another as weird else where, regarding cannibalism, the human race and garlic.
I have been caused to research various cooking methods and recipes of 'les human.
I kid you not, but will not post/paste any recipes on here due to indelicate or delicate palates, I really lurve civic coffee if only I could afford it, a mini for fun a bently for class.......

PS: I once force fed my cat 'bear-cat a whole week with only coffee beans, but trying to follow him when he wanted a crap was impossible.......'just a thought!........

And Argon oil from Morocco sort of goes the same way. Goats eat the nuts, nuts are excreted, women collect the nuts and go through a long drawn out process to extract the oil, hence why so expensive.

I bought some cashews and pistachios today from KZ, any ideas if they may have passed through anybodies orifice in the last couple of weeks ?...........

You could always recycle them when you've finished with 'em.....ruddy EX-pats a good dose of the trots would keep 'em all quiet!
Funny thing! when one's an ex-pat, the mozzies don't bite and we don't get the trots.....weird or what ? unless we are already full of shite... poo, merde...feces, [wcp] 'word censor proof'

I don't know what it was that put me in bed for three days last week then!
As this makes 3 x 5* Hotel restaurants and EgyptAir - obviously I'm not an ex-pat. Al Hamdulillah!

I often see new recipes I want to cook when next in Luxor for my husband, as he loves to try different cuisines, but usually have to discard them as I'm not sure if I could find all the ingredients....

About three weeks ago I needed some cornflour, all the Luxor shops were out of stock, but managed to find the last box in my local shop here in Karnak
