Charles dickens

Post by jewel »

Today would be Charles dickens 200th birthday, and his novels remain as popular as ever, I have my favours as I'm sure we all have, great expectations a classic.Who can forget his many characters, Oliver twist, Scrooge, David copper field, tiny tim, and countless more.
He was an amazing writer, and through his novels really brought to light the
Lives and hardships of the poor, and satirised those who allowed the abuses to continue, yet often made fun of the philanthropists.

So a good day to remember this, and if you can get to the national gallery, well worth a visit :)

Brilliant characters that have stood the test of time. He was ahead of his time with serialisation as well, almost like TV/Soaps are in parts now, his books could be considered serial reading programmes of the past. Groups would get together to read the parts as they came out, so if you could not read you could hear the stories being read aloud.
