VIMTO since 19O8

It was a few years ago I rediscovered Vimto in Omars supermarket. I happily bought a new bottle in Ragab & Sons.
It started me thinking: wiki:
In the Arabian Peninsula, Vimto has enjoyed over 80 years of dominance as the beverage of choice for the iftar or sunset feast during the Islamic holy fasting month of Ramadan. An article in The Times on-line mentioned some 15 million bottles were sold during the one month season in 2007.[9]
In Saudi Arabia Vimto is manufactured under license by the Aujan Industrial Company and enjoys a 90% market share in the cordial concentrated drinks market.[10] Every year, the company launches aggressive marketing campaigns on Arab satellite TV channels that in recent years have become very popular, and achieved cult status with viral marketing videos exchanged on the Internet.

So another British invention goes viral discounting the ever popular internet of course and Branstons Pickle...
So, back to my tree surgery..

Is that the cordial or the fizzy Vimto, like we used to buy from the off license?

And speaking of those Who2, I got them in a shop in Karnak three years age, orange and pineapple, then I found them on the main street on the West Bank once you turn left after getting off the ferry past the geezer that hires out the bikes on the corner coffee shop, don't know if he's still there. The little supermarket on the same side about two hundred meters up. Not on sale anymore on this side, more the pity as it seems that if it don't taste of mango, they don't sell it.

Obviously the Fizzy ones were not for use with hot water, but i remember as a child sitting outside my uncles pub in Martin, near Lincoln drinking bottle after bottle of Vimto while my parents were inside drinking pints of two's and Pony's "the little drink with a big kick" Yuk!! or of course Babycham, or a "Pigs Ear" A pint of Stewart And Pattinson in them days was 11p old pence.. How times have changed, its a good job vehicles do not use beer to run on you would need to be a millionaire to afford to run a mini.

Can anyone remember Corona? The pop man always delivered every Tuesday to us, and the ealier Coronas had the flip type cork similar to the first Grolsh bottles that came to the UK, the pop man also sold Vimto, along with some of the old favourite flavours like Dandelion and Burdock, ours also had a freezer and would bring Mivvi's around he also solod packets of 5 woodbine, complete with the matches to lite them.

Vimto is also in the 'crazyman"( I use this name as I can never remember the proper one) supermarket also on TV Street.
The thing I hate about Branston pickle is Nestle took over Crosse & Blackwell and killed of the much better Pan Yan Pickle to boost BP sales.

I remember Corona often, as a small kid I tripped and fell on a broken Corona bottle just missed my eye and still have a scar on my face to this day. Iirc there was a threepence deposit on the bottles (unbroken) .

My view of Branston Pickle was changed forever when I lived within 200 yards of the factory that made it! The smell permeated the atmosphere for about a mile around!

(Plus the fact that they now provide a squeezy version of their bottle of course!)

I have two varieties of the new squeeze bottles, the other is onion, not recommended, they are just a thick mush, taste is not bad, but nothing to compere with the original, nothing to get your teeth in. :td
