Re: Turning Off "Mute"
There's not much information there for me to work off W.I.
Do you run skype through your Laptop or PC speakers and Microphone ?
If you could give me an example of what works and what does not, I may be able to find out what the problem is from the types of files that wont play.
if you could find an example of each ( working and non working ) on the Internet for me to look at, that will help..
It could be something simple as using Windows Media Player for one file type and a third party media player for another, and we just need to switch the application for the faulty file type..

Re: Turning Off "Mute"
Thanks so much, BM. Just after I posted this, my old Apple G4 Powerbook finally died (I got over a year extra out of it after it went wonky, much more than expected). It is classed as an "antique", and could only be used as a "typewriter" (remember those, anyone?!), no internet connection possible. It's in "the shop", getting its data transferred to my newer MacBook Pro which will be given a look see as well, so hopefully whatever ailed that will be sorted at the same time. I am currently using my notebook, which I usually only use when travelling, and I HATE typing on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Read the other day that the last typewriter had been manufactured recently.Winged Isis wrote:It is classed as an "antique", and could only be used as a "typewriter" (remember those, anyone?!), no internet connection possible.
In the cupboard here there are still two manual ones and an electric one which was 'converted' and then could be used as a word processor - the screen is miniscule but was considered to be a real bonus to working life by our secretary when it was first bought!

Re: Turning Off "Mute"
Typewriter ? Ironically enough, I learned to type on one of those.
I went to collect a brand new company car one day, and on the drive back, I went into a roundabout at the usual speed, but this new car did not handle as well as the old one....
My company wanted a type written explanation.. ( hence the need to learn to type quickly, sort of put me in front of a typewriter.. Sink or swim..)
Anyway, having found my way around the keyboard I quickly developed the skill even to the point where I embellished my report somewhat, bringing an imaginary puppy into the incident...
Anyway, A new MacBook Pro will solve your problems I guess W.I ?
