New flight routes will be begin operating on 20th December, to cover all regions of the country at lowered prices, Civil Aviation Minister Samir Embaby Metwaly said Sunday.
“It will have a positive impact on tourism,” Metwaly said, pointing out that the government signed a contract for LE75 million with an investor to begin the flights.
In a press conference after meeting with Prime Minister Hesham Qandil, Metwaly said and Qandil reviewed the new projects being undertaken by the ministry, such as the expansion of Cairo International Airport and Hurghada Airport, the latter of which he said would be the third-largest airport in Africa after Cairo Airport and Johannesburg Airport.
“Our forecast for the Christmas season was adversely affected,” he said. “Many charter flights were canceled.”

Regarding Christmas and New Year the "Should be Busy Times" looks like Luxor has been cancelled again. Wonder if it means no Christmas Lights down the main street again?

They won't publish the new routes and fares until 21 December at the earliest and then they'll wonder why the fligths on the 20th were empty

Might not be EgyptAir! The very vague story (more detail in the Arabic version, possibly?) reports that the government signed a contract for LE75 million with an investor to begin the flights. Other airlines do operate in Egypt.

I booked a 07.30hrs Egyptair return flight from Luxor to Cairo for the middle of January and it cost me 1400LE.
This week I have received a number of emails from their London office changing the times to 0700 hrs and then half an hour ago to 06.45hrs.
I don't know what's going on with them but I will wait until the weekend and check if the flights are cheaper, then perhaps I can cancel and re-book!!!!

What is an hour or so time change for Egyptair!
Our flight to South Africa was changed to 3 days later!! just 10 days before travelling. Got rather grumpy with them because it totally screwed up our schedule and hotel bookings and we were eventually given a flight 2 days earlier. At least that was easier to manage.

It's only 45mins for me, but I have to get across the river, then a taxi to the airport, so a REALLY early start. It will be well worth it though, as it will give me extra time in Saqqara.
I must be jinxed, as my last flight abroad from the UK was delayed a full day due to Hurricane Sandy!!!LOL

Perhaps that's why they are cutting the costs Jewel, get the money in before it all ends. Maybe Egypt Air think they can take it with them.
