I think there is a drink sold in Egypt similar to Lasse/Lachi (sorry not sure of the spellings) which can be found in India and Turkey. It is a milky or yogurt type drink and often blended with other things such as almonds or other local nuts. From my very poor description can anyone please identify for me what I'm thinking off?

Sahlab is pretty much cornflour, milk and vanilla. And yep it's delicious with nuts on top.

BRU is a coffee/chickory type drink from India made from milk and creams. It can be topped with shaved chocolate, sprinkled with cinnamon, flavoured with grated ginger in the base........not sure if this is the type of drink you're thinking about but BRU can be made similar to what you're describing.
I personally love this drink. Tastes wonderfully milky.

Excuse the spelling but on the West Bank its Zabaddi, but you are right, it is originally Lasse, when dates are in season make with Yogurt, Milk, Vanilla Ice Cream and 2 Ice Cubes, blend together - Beautiful.
Try also, the same mix less the dates but add, 2 tablespoons of Lemon Juice and Fresh Mint from the garden
