Smartphone help please
When I returned to the U.K. I found that I had no landline connection and thus no internet.
After week of wrangling with Talk Talk "help" in India I bought a Samsung Galaxy S3.
It's pretty good but I am addicted to L4U games and I can't find anything that I can access. I still have no landline and no local hotspots and am suffering withdrawal from the games that I usually play when I can't sleep - hence this plea at 5am local time when I've been bored witless for the last 3 hours.
Please tell me there is something on L4U games I can access?

Re: Smartphone help please
Good choice, Ive got a samsung galaxy S3 too
Yet im sorry to say you cant access any flash on any new smartphone (some older versions you could) adobe stopped developing flash for phones cause it was very buggy and crashed most of the time, I know it's sad and millions of others complain about not having flash
so since the games are all in flash, they will not show.
There is millions of free games on the android, so go to the google play store and just click install on the games you like, they will be downloaded and installed on your samsung galaxy S3 (it's that easy).

Re: Smartphone help please
I have an Apple IPhone, find it fine but again do not play games, never seem to find the time for it. But great for music!! For games I use my IPad, if I have any time mainly in the morning when woken by the mosque, and all is quiet.

I can't install Flashplayer on my iPad either - hence no games for me, so you have company, MD.

Re: Smartphone help please
My equipment was bought in the UK and the items were put on there. If you register your gadgets in Egypt you can hardly get anything so they must be registered in the UK, that includes, kindles as well. Many people I know have brought equipment back with them, registered them in Egypt and found they do not perform, but even in Egypt register them at an English address and you will get most things. Kindle offer about three books when registered in Egypt and one of those is the Quoran. The book are heavily censored, godness knows what would happen if "50 shades of grey" became available.

I AM in England, CE, and so is MD, so both our gadgets are registered over here. Still can't play games though.
Maybe your gadgets are older than ours.

Re: Smartphone help please
My daughter bought me my IPad this last Christmas, and my wife bought me my IPhone at the same time, from the Apple Shop in Norwich. Try going back to the Apple Store they are very helpful, also visit the Apple Support online, where you can correspond using e-mail to solve your problem. Do you not find the IPhone a little small for games? You cannot buy the IPad Mini yet in Egypt, only the full size one, but they are too big to cart about everywhere, the Mini will just fit in a jacket pocket with its 7.1" Screen, as with the kindle touch.

I haven't got an iPhone, CE. I've got an iPad. I have the full sized one - which I love - but it doesn't seem to support Adobe Flashplayer. Maybe as Keefy said, there are too many bugs in it.

Re: Smartphone help please
Ipad/Iphone (IOS), tablets and smartphones (android) do not support adobe flash, so flash games wont work.

Isn't today's technology wonderful? They can send an unmanned rover to Mars, get it to preform all sorts of tasks within its on board lab, send the information to Earth, but you can't play a simple game on a pay through the nose mobile phone.

Wrong Dusak... You can play sophisticated games on the latest mobiles phonesDusak wrote:Isn't today's technology wonderful? I'm 100% sure the programming they used to program the on board computers of rover were not done in flash, same like the proper programmed games you play on your PC, Games Consol, smartphones are not done in flash.

Re: Smartphone help please
I'm taming my smartphone. (I think though it might well bite me in a minute).
However I am now in the situation where I have beside me three phones.
Phone # 1 is my sometime out of order land-line because calls to Egypt when it is working only cost about 12p a minute and email is of course free.
Phone #2 is my old mobile which I have had for at least 6 years and had the cheapest contract with O2 as an emergency phone and one I could use when in the UK. Egypt or anywhere in Europe, bills being paid by direct debit.
The drawback to my old phone was that I could not get a signal in the mountains of Ibiza, where my family with their fancy Smart Phones could. I was spending hours trying to connect to Egpt without success.
Phone # 3
After much persuasion I agreed to accept "Smartie" the android phone (M?F)
Unfortunately "Smartie" takes nano sims. So Okay, phone number three.
I am in the middle of an email fest at the moment catching up on correspondence because my Smartphone was bought without a contract so that I can switch my sim cards, country by country that I visit and have telephone, text and internet wherever I might be.
At least that was the idea.
It has just taken 8 days to mend my broken landline. During that time Smartie managed to cost £104 sterling.
That was just for essential calls etc.
So I'm back to square one and using the landline. What goes around comes around I guess.

Re: Smartphone help please
When I first saw this topic I was tempted to suggest the best thing to do with a new smartphone is throw it in the Nile and go back to using the old phone! It's taken me ages to even begin to get used to my Samsung Galaxy Ace - more than 6months actually, and I am still not comfortable with all the things I'm supposed to be able to do with it. I'm on a contract but am still concerned about running up a higher bill than I should even though I rarely use it for calls never mind any of the fancy stuff!
When I went to Luxor recently I took my trusty Nokia with me for my Egyptian Sim - terrified that if I put the sim in my ACE I would run up huge bills just for looking at it. Surprisingly it took me a couple of days to get used to my Nokia again but we became firm friends once more - I seem to use my phone far more in Egypt than ever I do in the UK - maybe I am morphing into an Egyptian!
Now I'm back in the UK and awaiting my phone bill - I wonder what stupid and innocent thing I did whilst away that is going to cost me or have I actually learnt that the OFF button is the best button on the whole phone!

Re: Smartphone help please
I must say that I love Smartie.
I've always found texting extremely tedious because the predictive text was too intrusive and it meant tap tap tapping away on tiny keys. The Smartie however has a line of predictive text which is obviously influenced by what I have chosen recently, which makes texting almost a pleasure, certainly faster and easier.
I also like to recieve the notification by way of a gentle ping when I am contacted by email or text.
Last but by no means least I feel so much closer to my family, as most communication is instant. Last year with my old phone I recieved my Mother's Day Texts two full days later.

Re: Smartphone help please
I like my Samsung Galaxy S3 - don't use it much as a 'normal' telephone at the moment as waiting to change over telephone numbers next month. What I do like about it is that it can do so much - I use the GPS a lot in Luxor to track how far I've walked or cycled (and to make sure I'm not lost lol). Some people might think it is to small to use as an e-reader but I'm quite happy using it as such (although you do turn pages more often) saves having to have another gadget to carry around. The camera is very good - ok not as good as a higher end digital camera but is much better than a 'snapper's' camera.
For international calls I use viber or fring - both use the internet to make the calls so as I have un-limited internet in the UK the calls are free - the quality can range from a robotic voice to high quality depending on the the internet at the time. Only yesterday I 'vibered' with friends in Thailand - both on 3G and apart from one 5 second loss of contact the quality was very good.
I will only love the phone when it can make a pot of tea.

Yes you are CE - it's not games as such they can not play it is the games on this site they can not play. The games on this site are made using 'Flash' - as with most games for PCs, ipads / androids will not play games made with 'flash'.Chocolate Eclair wrote:There must be something wrong with me then, because I download from the Apps store lots of games and play them with no difficulty at all... unless I am missing something from this post!
I assume they like the games on this site not just for the quality of them but also to beat the other forum members
