Sky Television has done reports on Luxor at least 5 times (3-4 mins at a time) yesterday. Although the reports were not the type we require, they did show some of the sights, Hatchepsute's Temple and Luxor Temple. I do not think these reports will do any good at all, they did not show the small scale of demonstrations but went into the crowd to make it look much bigger to what it were. Lets just hope that there were not too many people watched and believed these reports.

What with cancelled holidays by Tour Operators around Luxor (Previously reported on this forum) the future looks grim. I can understand these protests and what they are about, but the bad press reports are also creating a bleak future for our City.

I really hope that soon this turmoil in Egypt can be settled and lets get Egypt moving and back on the map again, so Tourists and Tour Operators will feel secure in visiting our City.

CE. Getting Egypt moving is more than getting tourism going. But your point is a good one however the instability is ruining the whole economy not just tourism.

The instability is frightening off new investment in gas and oil, preventing an agreement on the IMF loan, depressing the Egp,, depressing the Egyptian stock exchange, leading to a flight of domestic capital, restricting new investment by Egyptian companies and multinationals etc.

The whole of the economy is in neutral (or worse) and getting the other 90% moving will probably be as hard as with tourism.

When I noticed this on the news I thought that it was an advertisement for Luxor, the TV sound was off, I turned it on quickly thinking oh! at last Luxor is getting itself on the map again, but the report carried on and turned what looked like wonderful filming in and around Luxor into a terrible report on the opposition to the proposed new Governor. This is small fry, to what has happened in Egypt over the past 2 years, and made me wonder why it was necessary to report this on European Television. If it had been of interest to Europeans I would have thought ok! report it, but it is so minor that I just could not see any point in it.

Are we being looked upon from high? is the rest of the world wanting to put Egypt down, i have no answers to these questions, but surely it cannot be too long before someone or some body of people step in and say enough is enough. Egypt deserves and needs stability, it also needs someone or something to give it the stability it needs.

You may well be right H, in fact I am sure you are, but who or what is going to create this stability?
