Morsy supporters camped in al-Nahda Square in Giza on Sunday threatened to destroy the main power stations all over the country, in protest against the ousted president's detention.
“We will make it dark,” said Mostafa al-Saeed, a protester. “It is an escalation against the government of the coup.”
More than ten marches coming from different parts of Cairo have arrived in the square.
One march coming from Kit Kat district was assaulted by residents, causing injuries to dozens on both sides.
Islamic preacher Gamal al-Araby announced from the podium that a message he claimed was sent to him by Emad Abdel Ghafour, Morsy’s assistant, said that Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi had offered Morsy a safe exit in return for ending the protests. “But Morsy turned it down because he is the legitimate president of the country,” he said.
He called on the protesters not to talk with anyone from the presidency or the army. “Stay in the square until the end,” he said.
The military and the police increased their presence around the entrances and exits of the square to avoid possible clashes.

Re: Morsy supporters threaten to destroy power plants nation
A quote from one protester! Enough to start a rumour that it might possibly happen, which would totally remove any support for the pro-Morsi side. His mother and wife, who would suffer the most while he is on the street should tell him that he is "a very naughty boy"!
I might agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong!

And now that they have made it public knowledge that this is what they intend doing, the army will be waiting for them. As for cutting off the power, we are still getting them. Over an hour on Thursday night in the restaurant, same Saturday, same last night. These people from Kit Kat are really taking the biscuit. They should take a break from all this mayhem.

Yeah - packing your underwear full of C4 and then getting on a plane is one thing but to start taking out power stations does take a modicum of smarts and understanding to say nothing of getting access in the first place.

LivinginLuxor might have nailed this. Rumor predicting events. Rumor creating events. Who says that you can't write the history of the future right now?
Like much news in Egypt, only the Independent knows about it which is odd given that journalists drawn from all over the world are swarming like flies in Cairo. Some of them are even going outside Cairo.
No reputable newspaper or news media outlet in the world, other than the Independent, is reporting this story or quoting the Independent's story. No news agency, not Reuters, AP, AFP or AAP is reporting it. Maybe the Russians or Chinese are running it - I don't know. Kuwait and UAE would like it.
I suspect that the Independent's reputation with media and agencies outside Egypt is so tarnished that they will not run the Independent story themselves because they know it cannot be trusted.
You could say that the first casualty of war is truth but there has never been much war in Egypt but truth has always been in short supply in a country with government media managed by the military dictatorship for 60 year. Outright lies and propaganda have always been used to frighten people or to make their miserable and venal rulers look good.

last night was pretty bad in Luxor , East Bank. Molotov cocktails being thrown into Mb premises etc. Its not safe to be a member of the brotherhood here any more. My sister in law was visiting family with her husband in another part of Luxor city and they couldn't leave because of all the mayhem on the streets. Thank God we did our shopping on Thursday evening!
On another note, we heard from a man whose 20 year old brother is a member of the MB and he told us of the MB plans to attack different cities at different times. The bigwigs in the MB pay thousands of pounds to junior members to go to hotspots to fight. The 'front line' is the suicide line and they are paid not to come back. Slowly their plan is to up the ante, using first knives, then guns, then explosives. This particular 'brother' got so scared on the bus going to Mansoura that he jumped off and legged it back home to Luxor. Now he is in hiding but with 50.000LE, courtesy of the MB. But he has no identity card as that is given to the Brotherhood, for safekeeping (?). But with the money that the Brotherhood gave him he has bought land. All of the junior members are paid to fight. They don't do it for nothing!!! But they completely believe in the cause...and the money helps. But I wonder how many of them would really be fighting if there was no financial reward in it?
