FREE MORSI and let there be peace!

Despite my views on MB I have to say that I think that now the ONLY hope for Egypt is to free and reinstate Mohamed Morsi and have elections soon. This has to be the only way to deal with the current crisis and chaos in Egypt, before it spirals out of control
Stop the violence and let there be a start toward peace and reconciliation.....please :sd

How would freeing a hardened criminal help to have elections soon, and under what constitution?

An alternative approach would be for the entire MB membership to make themselves martyrs. Is someone still a martyr if there are no followers remaining to continue the cause?

Jewel, I really wonder what planet you are on! Millions of people wanted Morsi out. Far more than voted him in in the first place! And far more than are campaigning for his re-instatement now. And those same people responded to Sisi's request to take to the Streets again to give the Government a 'mandate' to disperse the protests. Now how do you think they are going to feel if the undemocratic, despotic and inept President they overthrew is re-instated? If the 'roadmap' were scrapped and the transitional Government were to bow to the violent pressure brought about by his supporters? And more importantly, how do you think they are going to react?

I've been wondering about him these last few weeks. What is his state of life or death - anyone seen anything about him lately?

OK TT if you say there is such a majority want him out( he was voted in democratically with 52% of the vote) then it should be voted on, otherwise it is all conjecture and supposition.

The point is that unless this is done, things will go from bad to worse, and the divisions become wider, and that is NOT good news for the future of Egypt.
It could however be playing out the bibles prophecy of the end times as foretold in Daniel, and boy would Israel be rejoycing!!

When Morsi was deposed it was made clear that he would not be debarred from standing in the forthcoming elections. Whether this still applies now that criminal charges (murder) have been brought I against him I do not know. But even should the MB decide to participate in the elections, as they have been invited to do, it would probably be political suicide to field Morsi as a candidate a second time. They would be far better advised to look for someone who has some economic and political knowledge and a first clue as to how to run a country and tackle a failing economy. Or at very least the ability and preparedness to appoint a cabinet which incorporates these skills. IMHO.

Iv'e already pointed out that the MB bought whole villages vote from the money Obama supplied they paid people to resort to terror campaigns but they used the money rather than follow MB thoughts, there was No choice in the elections Brotherhood or a Mubarak man, that is not democratically elected, the masses of Egyptian people have spoken they DO NOT WANT an MB Islamic state. They are, as we speak the MB blowing up shop fronts of Coptics who have lived in harmony for years except for the MB....

Democratically elected as in simply counting votes doesn't = democratic rule.

Even if Morsi was released am positive the MB would only declare this a victory and it would solidify in them that violence will get them anything they want.

In my mind I've been playing out the scenario that IF Hosni was returned with a definite mandate of democracy, allowed to re-instate order (could he?) with a confirmed pending election date - ??? On the other hand WHO is in the woodwork there that could be brought forward to lead the way?

Do you have incontrovertible proof on that though who2? Or just hearsay and anecdotal evidence? This is the big danger, and always has been in Egypt, especially at this moment in time.
The majority wanted rid of Mubarak, and look what happened there.......Copts and Jews have always been blown up, ask them in Jerusalem, it's what Muslims do best

Jewel - there is a world of difference between the vast majority of people who follow Islam peacefully and those terrorists aka MB aka Hamas aka Hezbollah etc who have highjacked a world religion. And am not saying we don't find the same in Christian extremists too but it IS wise to understand the difference.

Islam is NOT the religion of "peace" in any way shape or form, LLL do to be under any illusion of anything different whatever you may be told or read.by its very nature the Qu'ran states what it expects of its believers it is very clear, and those who state they are "moderate" Muslims lie, there is no such thing.
The main problem in Egypt right now is where to go from here? And how to sort out the truth from the lies. I feel that in all that has happened recently the ONLY hope there may be of any form of peace being restored is to free Morsi and have a democratic vote to settle this violence.
Despite the fact that many are still brainwashed into believing that the army is the great white saviour in all this, sometimes people have to show some humility and try to reconcile their differences, but will the military junta allow this? I very much doubt it.

A laugh to be honest I for one am sick of her pontificating. From her previous posts she should be celebrating the loss of life, just think how many fewer "breeders" there are now.

Well Carrie you do have a point there I must admit ;) and quite right, as according to Malthus, one of Egypts main problems is the massive overpopulation, so there is something in that regrettable as it may seem to many, fact is its the reality.
Pontificate? Moi......guess it must have something to do with the Egyptian in me! ;)

Yes, Malthus knew a thing or three that's for sure. :)

The main fact is that unless something is done to elect a suitable leader the spiral of disorder will increase. OK Morsi will be outvoted, but replaced by who? :tk

Mubarak did at least suppress the MB................
Despotic suppression of Islam and its forced replacement with secular values worked for a while, across the Middle East and in Iran but the face of revolutions across the Middle East and Iran has been Islamic, even if the "Arab Spring" was at first thought by some gullible Western commentators to herald the emergence of Enlightenment values. As John Esposito puts it in "Islam and Secularism in the Twenty-First Century", "Secularisation of Muslim societies, though short-lived, has been possible only through force as wielded by despotic governments."

But really do secularism and Islam go together? Samuel Huntington observes in The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order that Muslims view Islam "as a way of life transcending and uniting religion and politics". Ernest Gellner observes in Muslim Society that "there is no separation in Islam between state and religion". Obviously, to the extent that these observations continue to hold, Islam and secularism are incompatible.

This is the problem that has been encountered in Europe and USA.
Again according to Samuel Huntington: "The underlying problem for the West is not Islamic fundamentalism. It is Islam, a different civilization whose people are convinced of the superiority of their culture"

Worth a read.
