Isn't he just saying that in Islam there is no concept of a girlfriend, meaning no pre-marital sex? It does not seem like a too radical of an idea.

Just because you have a girl/boyfriend doesn't have to mean that its a sexual relationship. Suspicious minds.

Give a girl a flower and she will love you for a few hours, give a girl a packet of seeds and she can grow her own.

Well, I suspect that is what Abu Mounisa in the video meant. The title of the video itself is “#Day 24: No Girlfriends”.

And while I do not know how things were when you were growing up, but to me, and to people who are growing up today, the word “girl/boyfriend” definitely means a sexual relationship. To be honest, what is the point of having a girlfriend if there is no sex? If there is no sex, would she not just be a "friend"?

If the only point of having a girl friend is to get a regular supply of sex, then its not a true relationship in my eyes. What about companionship, just being with someone that you care about and enjoy being with. To share life's experiences before moving on. Yes, everybody gains enjoyment from the act, but its not the be-end to all. I was a renowned flower giver in my time as I like flowers, but it was just a sign of appreciation towards a friends returned friendship or in marriage to release me from the dog house or apologize for something that I hadn't yet done but she thought I had. Perhaps I may now have to re-think my outlook as my Egyptian friend is always bringing me flowers that she nicks out of her friends large garden.

Well, that’s fine, and I understand what you are saying, but that is not what most people who the above video was aimed at think. Most young people do believe that boyfriend/girlfriend relationship means a sexual relationship.

To me the video uses flower giving as a simple example of expressing romantic overtones, which in turn may lead to romance, which in turn lead to a sexual relationship. It is the pre-marital sexual relationship that the video seeks to mitigate, not flower-giving.

Otherwise what would be the point of the video, then?
