Campaign collects 15 million pleas for Sisi to run for president.
Chancellor Rifai Nasrallah, general coordinator of the “Complete Your Favor” campaign, has said that the campaign has so far collected more than 15 million signatures to pleas asking Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to run in the presidential elections.
“We target 50 million signatures,” Nasrallah said.
“The people of Egypt who overthrew Mubarak and Morsy are able to impose their will for Sisi to lead the country,” he said at a rally in Daqahliya.
“I am confident Sisi would accept,” he said. “For there is an agreement of honor between the people and Sisi to meet their wishes.”
He added that the campaign would organize million-man demonstrations and call for boycotting the elections if Sisi does not nominate himself.

Reminds me of the beginning of the Cesar's of Rome, with the young general Octavian, pleading with the Senate, that he did not want the power, though un-willing to surrender the kingdom of Egypt up to them. He was no fool, for he held within his hands the 'grain basket of Rome', and always reluctant to accept any honours, baubles, as he called them, until that is when they started offering him real power, that they, the Senate were to loose. However he went on to become the Augustus, and then a god,.............unthinkable in the latter days of the Republic.
Well, who would have thought it,.........Sisi, probably to become god in his own life time, but who will be pulling the strings,..........or is it that I am not an old cynic. (see my notes three years ago.)

Nice historical reference but Augustus was a genius and Sisi is just a junior general who never fought a war and, as Defence Minister, couldn't even fix or stabilize Sinai.
The mortal Sisi could do worse than following the lessons of the divine Augustus: feed the citizens, win wars, keep taxes low, buy votes, keep all the forms of the republic, curb the power of the great republican families etc..
However its Mubarak who looks closer to Augustus as far as psychopathic relatives set up to succeed.
As far as the Sisi petition I won't bore you with my arithmetic but like its predecessors over the past six months only a fool or a zealot would believe that the numbers could be got or that a an efficient organization could be established from scratch to get them. However, if you forced every member of the army and the security forces to get 10 or 20 you might get there.

Maybe not, but it will be a better chance for some stability and hopefully prevent the fiasco of recent elections etc.
As for the committee good luck to them anything that can improve the current situation has my support and assistance in anyway I can.
No committee or Government department is going to improve the situation without a period of stability and if Gen Sisi can bring that perhaps helping to prevent a split vote and narrow win thereby taking the country back again so be it.

I'd been saying for at least 5 years before 2011 that there would be a revolution and the MB would take over the country. I could have told you from early January 2011 that said revolution would start on January 25. Now, my feeling is we have AT LEAST 5 more years ahead of us of a climate that will not be conducive to attracting tourists, no matter who the next president is, although it is likely to be al-Sisi. I've looked at the history of a lot of countries that were in similar situations to what Egypt is in today and if that is any indicator then we are on a well worn path that unfortunately is not one that will give us the proper PR abroad.
The mentality of the Egyptian people fundamentally changed in 2011 and half the country is below the age of 23. Imagine all the younger ones as they grow up into adults and quickly become the majority of the population, they will have completely different expectations because that will be all they have ever known. That is why you can't expect to go back to the Mubarak era even if you reconstruct the Mubarak state. It's like trying to put the genie back in the bottle.

One thing the army has going for it that many Egyptians have been part of it and probably just about every family.
I do not think any fear the army as they did some parts of the police with most respecting it.
There needs to be more respect for the police/law or unfortunately a bit more fear again for those who cannot get to grips with the respect bit.

I don't know what will happen in the next 5 years, but what won't happen is the real problem and those things are as clear as day. This country has a number of unsolvable problems that people expect to be solved. And they won't be. And you will see.

As you know unfortunately and its not just the Egyptians but people expect government to fix everything overnight and of course it cannot be done.

"Sisi to become a God in his own lifetime.....who is pulling the strings". Bold words to put in print. even in a jocular fashion nowadays. Didn't some poor farmer get arrested for calling him a donkey....or rather naming a donkey after him? Allusions to God could be viewed even more seriously in the Islamic world! If a criticism of "the committee" could land you in the cells, goodness knows what sarcasm, which could be inferred as being directed at General Sisi, might incur! Bassem Yousef knows all about this.
